Facebook tie-in with the demo and full game. Pay attention to this one Spartan, I think you'll like it ;)

Btw, the demo has 4 player co-op!

Not impressed... this coming from someone who LOVES Crackdown.

The bad- The controls are almost the exact same, which is IMO a bad thing. Targeting body parts is cool, but you still have to unlock to change targets. They messed up the melee system bad... it was fine before but now its slow and useless. Agency cars don't transform anymore. Fighting freaks at night is very bland and boring but maybe I need to try it again. The island is almost unchanged in terms of actual geography from the first game... and the graphics seem worse. Too dark and dreary and hard on the eyes.

The good- taking strongholds is more dynamic, there seems to be a slightly more developed plot. Weapon selection is fine. World is fairly detailed.

UPDATED- After playing more, and maxing my guy out I have more things to say. More positive though.

Only 4 character models and a handful of colors for armor is kinda weak, but overall nothing to hurt the game. The models DO change as you level up but not as noticeably or significantly as the first game had.

Strength- The barge ability for you gain for leveling up the melee is nearly useless... Takes two hits to kill anything, but a maxed out standard melee will kill in one. The ground pound is awesome though. Being able to pick up objects and use them as melee weapons is pretty cool, but doesn't seem to increase the effectiveness. Throwing cars and barrels etc is still great fun.

Guns- Pretty much the same as the first game. Can target legs, arms, and the head to disable or kill faster. You will sometimes select a new target when holding down target lock, but the controls are still finicky and unrefined from the first game. Leveling up now unlocks weapons instead of collecting them, and the selection is pretty good this time around. Definitely an improvement. I didn't get to play around with all the weapons, but there are SMGs, Shotguns, Assault Rifles with that get upgraded over time to become pretty powerful. The harpoon gun is back and hilarious as ever. The UV Shotgun is uber powerful against Freaks but also works like an air cannon of sorts, launching people, cars, etc a long distance. Mounted turrets can be picked up for extreme firepower, and are pretty cool.

Driving- No more Agency Truck. Cars don't transform anymore, but the handling is overall much better than the first game which is nice. Nothing really new, just old vehicles slightly changed.

Explosives- Same as first game. UV grenades were added for fighting Freaks, but overall the selection and function of the explosives are all the same.

Agility- Lots of orbs. Lots of them. Nothing exciting to report though, grab more, jump higher.

Freaks- These zombie things swarm the streets from dusk til dawn. UV weapons and explosives are more effective against them. They have varying speeds and strength, but are all pretty resistant to regular weapons. TONS of them are on screen at once, several dozens easily. The gangs and cops are still out at night, and its pretty cool seeing them fight each other. Freaks hide in their lairs during the day, which makes them scary places to invade at best.

Gangs- Only one gang in the demo, the Cell. Not sure if there are other gangs or not. They fight the cops and raise hell, and get mauled up by freaks at night. They are out in force during the day terrorizing the city, but at night they fortify their bases for the most part making them more fun to attack. They have some more powerful weapons, like turrets mounted on trucks, that can actually put a dent in your health (something the gangs in the first didn't do very well).

The City- Very similar, just run down. I don't like this very much... because I played the first so much, it is all way too familiar to me. The freak lairs are the only things added as far as I could find. Hopefully the other areas have been changed more.

Graphics- very dark, compared to the first game which had pretty bright graphics. The characters look more detailed, and the environments too, but the dark graphics look muddy. Not sure if it will grow on me or not, but this is the biggest turn off for me.

Basically, Ruffian Studios was too afraid to change anything very much. However, running around causing chaos and killing zombies is as fun as its always been.

Still, a day one purchase for me for sure.

I was never a huge fan of the first Crackdown. Just seemed to be to childish and arcade like. But I was very impressed by the demo for the 2nd installment. I will most likely buy this when it comes out.

p.s. - I love the music in the demo!
