Developers; not wanting to help the cause?

All developers did last gen is ignore the GCN due to low sales(in the end, it was only three mil behind the Xbox, so wtf), and they didn't seem to realize if they would actually put games out for it, it would have sold.

The rationale behind the decision to not port games to the GC was one of target audience, not one of audience size.

Out of curiosity, what exactly is "the cause" you expected developers to help? And, more importantly, what's your point? :lol

Well, I kinda had bad wording, but what I'm trying to say is...developers did nothing but complain about sales, but did nothing to help, which seems to be repeating in the PS3.

I haven't seen devs talking about the PS3 like that. Plus Sony is actually sending programmers from their dev teams to help the other developers to actually develop good games. Maybe another company should do this. Also developers are also going from developing for 360 and porting to PS3 and going the other way around.

That's what all console manufacturers should be doing to help themselves. If they want good 3rd party support they should help support 3rd party developers. Simple.

I thought it was also the lack of size on the disc. GCN discs didn't hold very much compared to PS2 or Xbox discs.

Exactly.

Developers are only in this for one cause and that's monetary. It's not like they were out to get Nintendo. Look at the Wii. The audience is much more broad than the Gamecube so there are a lot more games being developed for it.

i sure have, and im not just saying that because i dont like ps3.

indeed it is in the same situation as the gamecube was. the 360 has the biggest fanbase, and its easy to make games for. people will play it.

The PS3 is a PITA to develop for. That's what's killing it right now. Coding is tedious enough to begin with. Make it a PITA and I don't see why people even bother. Then again. i never liked programming to begin with.
