I've never really played an FF game before. I was thinking of picking one up because they are so popular and everything. Since there are 12, I'm having some trouble deciding which one to pick up. Which ones do you guys recommend?
 
I would either go with 10 or 6. Seven is one of the best but good luck findinng it. 10 has a simple yet engaging battle system and one hell of a story. Plus you could get it for like $10

SOLD!!!! How much are 7 and 8 on ebay cause I hear they are the best.

Huh. That's just your opinion though. I've read plenty of reviews that say its a good game. I'm guessing your a big FF fan and you didn't like that 12 strayed from the formula of the older games right?
 
I don't mind a new formula if it wasn't crap. I actually loved how FF was turning out at first, but then I learnt the Horrors of the battle system once more members are in your party.

Honestly though 12 is not the best in the series, because it's such a fantastic series. I would consider this more fact that opinion. :D People are just suffering from the "12 is brand new so I'm going to say it's the best" syndrome.
 
FF7 is considered the best by many, but like you said it's not cheap. I really enjoyed FF9, but for some reason that one doesn't get as much mention as the others. So I'd say get these, FF9, FF8, FFX, and then FF7 if you can afford it.

I definately can't afford 7 ($60 dollars is ridiculous), but I'll check out the other ones. 8 is only 15 dollars on amazon.
 
I wasnt really sold on 8. IMO 10 is the best followed closely by 7. I would also suggest Dragon Quest 8 too which is an excellent game
 
I'm gonna get tarred and feathered for this one, but I also like X-2. It is a good game if you play it after FFX. As a stand alone it's a pretty weak game.
 
I enjoyed X-2. I probably would have as a stand alone game as well... if there were guys instead of the women i think this game would have gotten more recognition
 
Don't forget that there were Playstation (one) releases of Final Fantasy called Chronicles and Anthology that had ports of the SNES Final Fantasy games.

Final Fantasy II (U.S. version.. a.k.a. FF IV in Japan) has long been one of my favorite games. Final Fantasy X also gets my vote for a must have game on the PS2.
 
FF6 (3 in the USA) is really great. I played that back on SNES and probably played it through 3 times. I also liked 1, 2 (5 in Japan), 7, 10. I have not had the chance to play FF8, 11,12, or many of the others.

The PC version is improved in the sense that the picture will be sharper.
