Guitar Hero: Encore Rock the 80's to be rarity soon?

The Romantics are suing Activision, who had permission to do a cover of "What I Like About You" in Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s; apparantly the Romantics thought the cover sounded just like their original. They are also seeking an injunction against the game, which could result in the game being pulled from store shelves.

Bottom line: What a bunch of jerks.
 
Isn't the point of GH covers for it to sound as much as possible like the actual song? "as made famous by" is how they word it, so wouldn't one infer that they are trying to make it sound as authentic as possible? BTW I think they do a fine job at it.
 
Nah, it won't get pulled. They agreed to allow a cover song. As in, they won't sing their own song, but someone else will. The judge will throw it out because Activision did what was agreed upon. It's not their fault that it sounds like the originl. Which, by the way, is strictly based on opinion, and not solid fact.

Yes, The Romantics are jerks. They most likely thought the game would be a flop. So they signed away and got minimal royalties, and now they are pissed.
 
It's just another frivolus lawsuit that isn't going to go anywhere I would be shocked if the judge gave them even a temporary injuction. Although you fans of this game series better hope it doesn't go anywhere otherwise there will not be another game made like it.

Here's a question.

I just got Guitar Hero III. I assume that the guitar controller will work with all the Guitar Hero games?
 
Doesn't matter anyways. That game wasn't even close to being good. My opinion of course. And like everyone else has said, The Romantics' argument doesn't hold water at all. So this will end soon.
 
2 isn't bad... 3 is pretty good. I haven't played 1 yet.

I will say... I like a lot of the tracks on Guitar Hero 3, but there are some songs on there I just don't dig though... I guess it can't be perfect though :) It's pretty good regardless.

they have a combo disc? are u sure its just not two discs?

aaaaah i have the whole collection here right next to me, guitar hero, guitar hero 2, guitar hero 3, guitar hero 80s and rock band :D

Guitar Hero 3 isn't Harmonix, though.
