Has the 360 already peaked?

There's no denying 2007 was a great year for the 360. It was oozing with great exclusive titles like Mass Effect Bioshock, Forza 2, and its killer app, Halo 3, but what does it have left? Looking forward at 2008, few titles jump out. There's certainly no big seller, like Halo 3 set for release in 2008. So what does the 360 have left to keep the PS3's big console sellers at bay? What can the 360 throw out to compete with the likes of MGS 4? Will 2007 be the year the 360 reached its peak, or will it continue to surge, through 2008, and widen its lead over the PS3, in spite of MGS 4, and the rest of PS3's system sellers coming out?

There is a big seller. It's Grand Theft Auto IV.

But besides that, you're right there really isn't much, at least that is out in the media right now. Give it time the new year hasn't even begun yet. If it was still this quiet by March or April then I would start wondering what's up.

Umm coming to PS3 and PC (I dont know if thats positive for PC). 360 is gunna have downloadable episodic content at $10 a pop (there's at least 4 of them) coming a like a month after release but that'll be released on a separate format 6 months after release on all platforms that GTA IV comes out on. So I see no advantage for it being on 360 over all other platforms. Who needs more content for a GTA game a month after its release? As for 360 next year I don't know XBL games have a restriction when it comes to the amount of space on the game and that is a problem. They really used all of their exclusives in '07.

EDIT: After thinking about it 08 will be for 360 as 07 was for PS3. ie: Less exclusives and more multi-platform games.

The only things I can think of off the top of my head that I am looking forward to are Alan Wake and maybe Halo Wars. And if Tales of Vesperia comes out on the 360, I will get it for that.

Alan Wake is another Duke Nukem. I doubt itll come out this year. And its not even a 360 exclusive.

Rumored for one. Fable meh there'll be better RPGs and wasnt that supposed to be released in 07? Splinter Cell is not really what it used to be since Double Agent. Halo Wars < Star Craft 2 (Wonder who is gunna buy Halo Wars?!?!?! Oh yea Die Hard Halo fans). Half Life is always better on PC.

Nothing stands out in 08 for the 360.

If its like making KoToR and then giving it to another company (if same is being done with Jade Empire) I'd be pissed. Jade empire should stay with BioWare IMO.

It better not have peaked, Im still waiting for Assassans Creed 2 >:( DONT DIE ON ME, 360!

Hines is right, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will do very well on 360, no doubt. Fable 2 will sell

BioWare is working on their Sonic RPG, Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, and the MMO, right now. They simply don't have the resources to take on Jade Empire 2.

Even if they were working on it now, I doubt it would get an '08 release date.

@GM, it's their IP, unlike Kotor, so if there's a sequel, it's a safe bet they would make it. The reason they didn't make Kotor 2 was because they wanted to work on a game based on their own IP (Jade Empire), so LucasArts, who owned the IP, gave the rights to making Kotor 2 to someone else. I doubt this will happen to Jade Empire, unless BioWare decides to sell off the IP.

With the Orange Box hitting the PS3, as well as the 360, and PS3, I'd be very surprised if Half Life 2 Episode 3 is exclusive.

I don't think Fable 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Halo Wars (if it is even released in '08) are enough to compare to the great year they had in 2007.

Yes but there are more 360's out there than PS3, unless it gets delayed again more people are going to buy it for the 360. It may not be a big advantage but it will still sell very well. PC doesn't count too much since it's on a different level.

remember that you never know until is officially announced.. who knows what the 360 has for the future
