Yea I wouldn't get it either. I'd rather they use them for people who really need it like the young and elderly.

I know what you mean with respect to the young and the elderly,it's a commendable outlook, but you're 26!
You sound like you are 80. :lol

Huh!? How do I sound like I am 80? I am a young and perfectly healthy person so why would I use up a shot that could be used for somebody who needs it way more than me?

I already had Swine Flu. :( It's not fun.

I was wondering if it was kind of like the stomach flu, making you sick to your stomach. Is that's what it's like?

The H1N1 itself isn't what you need to worry about. It's the complications, like pneumonia that you need to worry about.

Had it already. Five days of almost continuous sleep. This version is nothing compared to the previous H1N1, AKA the Spanish flu.

I'm also not getting the vaccine for H1N1 or the regular flu.

same...

ive been flu free for 21 years....its from when i was a kid and never washed my hands, my body built up a natural immunity!!!

I won't be getting it because Ive never had a flu of any kind ever so i think I'm safe ill just let them give the needles to the people who do need it.

In actuality, there is no stomach flu. Most people call viral enteritis a stomach flu though it has nothing to do with influenza, which is a respiratory infection.

Unless you're over 29, you've most likely never been exposed to an H1N1 strain.

The Spanish flu of 1918 was most likely a similar strain, but I would suggest that the high mortality rate was due to poor infection controls and subsequent secondary infections. Though I have heard it said on documentaries (like Influenza 1918) that the flu that year caused filling of the lungs with fluid, the symptomology is reminiscent of an infection with Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Even if that is the case, this year's H1N1 strain is especially dangerous to the young, the old, anyone with a compromised immune system, or anyone with respiratory complications, such as asthma.

Exactly.

It doesn't help when you're system is already fighting the flu to throw in a second complication. Thus the elderly, very young, and people poor immunity are at high risk. They just can't handle a double whammy.

My point being is people are quick to freak out on a strain that isn't much worse than the common form of the flu. It could be worse, but it isn't. I personally have never had the flu shot, and have had the flu (including swine) a whopping three times in my entire life. To the young, old and those with compromised immune systems, it should be worrysome. But to the rest of the healthy people, it's not worth worrying about.
