I HAVE SURVIVED! (My Black Friday Story)

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Oh dear god, people are ANIMALS!

I arrived at 745am. Store was cluttered with tons and tons of games and accesories.

Every 30 minutes, there would be 10 to 12 people ready in a new line. I worked 8 1/2 hours. Over 80-100 customers I would have to say.

By the time I got out, it looked like a Hurricane went through Waco.

This is the 5th "Black Friday" I have survived and it's never too pretty. Word of advice to all my friends, is if you work in retail, never let your gaurd down! especially on this day

have you not heard my story?

here, ill quote myself

people are idiots this time of year, let me tell you. black friday is one of the worst days i have ever experienced. my dad and i saw an advertisement for 20 inch flatscreen tvs for only $50 at walmart and we went at 4 in the morning to get one. holy crap. the line from the door was at LEAST a half a mile back. when they finally let us inside, everyone rushed for the tvs. i screamed "THIS ONES MINE!" as a lady sat on it and she said "NO ITS NOT" and i said "YES IT IS" and i grabbed the handles of the box and ripped it out from under her. while we put this one in the cart, i saw another one in an idle cart. i went to take it, and these random black people came out of nowhere screaming "COME ON MAN THATS MAH **** THATS MAH ****" i said "no its not" and began to take it. my dad just said "curtis, let them have it" and we left. my right arm was numb and i was shaking for about an hour afterwards just from the stress and mass chaos. STAY AT HOME ON BLACK FRIDAY.

people are idiots, i tell you, idiots

:lol All I can do is laugh at all that! But, you guys lived, which is good to hear! I'd hate to not be able to see you wo on Egame because you were in a trauma thing at the hospital or something.

So yea at midnight last night me and some of my friends(50 1337 541, Kiro, Saturn NIGHTS, and CAPSLOCKED) decided to go to a Walmart at 2 in the morning. What did we do when we get there? Well we stood in line and made fun of Soccer Moms. So when the store opened we went in and went to the electronics department and were like "What should we do?". Well we stood there looking at how pathetic people become. Then we went over to the cashier at the department and were like "Soo what kind of day u havin?". Well this guy didnt take kind to that, so we went else where. Later we come back and what do we find but the whole Electronics Department destroyed. And who do we find? Of course this guy. The only guy to clean up the mess. Some job huh?

Well after a few hours of this we went to Perkins for an early breakfast. MMMmmmMMM was it good... ^_^

It's the Friday after Thanksgiving, where everything goes on a massive sale for those starting their Christmas shopping.

I was about to ask that very same thing.

I used to work in a Zellers electronic dept. (like Wal-mart, but Canadian) and Christmas time was absolutely brutal. I was the only person working in the entire department, meaning, if you wanted to look at a game in a case, buy something from electronics, or ask about a product or price, you had to get in the same line, and wait for me. The worst part was that people would get mad at me for having to wait so long, as though I had engineered the business to operate in such a fashion on purpose. Somehow they got the idea I wanted to be the only person responsible for the most popular department all through Christmas. Yes, because there is so much to covet in that.

Originates from the 1932 Stock Market Crash in New York. It too, happened on a Friday.

So during the 1940's, many famous retailers, like Macy's, began to market this day as "BLACK FRIDAY". Biggest holiday shopping day of the year and the most dreaded.

My Black Friday retail experience? I worked. It was dead most of the day. The one part that was crazy busy was when we had a flood of Black Friday shoppers hopped up on caffeine and sleep-deprived all wanting their cars worked on now. I laughed. Suggested better planning.

My opinion on Black Friday? It's always the idiots who trample other customers for that trinket that their kid absolutely wants this year, but will be sitting in a land fill this time next year. It's pointless. Selfish people sap the very meaning of Christmas out of the holiday by having a mob mentality. It's sick.

And this concludes my rant.

I work in the 1 Hour Photo Lab at Wal-Mart and one of our machines was down, so it wasn't that busy for me, at least not after about 9 am when we had already sold out of everything cheap (I came in at 7 am).

I just think it's hilarious that we normally carry cameras under $100 year round, but for some reason everyone thinks we only have them on Black Friday. :lol

On an somewhat related note, today I had a nice laugh (mentally, anyway). Someone actually thought that if they did one hour photo but waited two days to pick it up that they wouldn't have to pay the one hour development price. :lol :lol

It's cheaper to do two-day send-out, but you have to wait two days. One hour photo is more expensive but you get it in one hour.

However, if you order for one hour, but you wait two days to pick up, it is still considered as one hour service, so it's not cheaper than if you had actually just picked it up in one hour.

Apparently, it wasn't over...I worked tonight and it was pretty much the same pain again.

However, the icing on the cake, the vaccum cleaner broke when I tried to clean the store. Actually it HAS been broke for days, just someone has been too lazy to report it to the boss to say "Hey its broken" :(
