No. This is not as insane as what happened 2 days ago. Bobby Kotick is a serious manipulative D-bag.

Oh I know, but still insane to me. This industry is a dog eat dog world it seems.

Apparently a disagreement arose between IW (or West and Zampella) and Activision over the direction of the franchise. 2011 will see Call of Duty go into the "action-adventure" genre, in addition to the Treyarch FPS slated this fall and (presumably at one time) the IW FPS in the fall of 2011.

I'm willing to bet "action-adventure" means MMORPG, or is a step in that direction. Bobby Kotick realizes that in the console space more people play CoD online than any other game (sorry MM, maybe Halo Reach will change that?) and they want to capitalize on that the way they have with WoW. For those who don't want to "pay-tp-play" Call of Duty games (although many of you already do, *coughxboxlivecough*) you better hope West and Zampella win this thing.

IW isn't going to be making the next CoD game after Treyarch's. Kotick, after giving the shaft to West and Zampella, gave the next CoD project to another studio.

Well, ever so slowly, I'll stop supporting Activision. Guitar Hero is about to dry up and CoD is going to die. Good thing I don't play Wow either. Screw that.

From what I understand IW will still be making another FPS CoD in 2011, but in addition to that game another game made by Sledgehammer will release earlier that year.

I read through Infinity Ward's lawsuit, and it sounds like Activision had it coming. I can't say I'm even slightly surprised though. Activision has just gotten worse and worse over the past few years and, I don't know about you guys, but this is the last straw for me. Until they take a moment to stop counting their money, start respecting their developers, and realize that gamers don't want 12 Guitar Heroes every year, I refuse to buy another game published, developed, or in any way associated with Activision.
