I've Got To Save My Friend!

This old friend of mine at the chess club is around the same age as me(35)Like myself,he has a drinking problem.I haven't had a drink in years but that doesn't mean that I'm home free.The second that you adopt that attitude,your heading for relapse.

Only a few days ago,after over 2 years of sobriety he relapsed.I've got to be honest,but seeing as how I am a recovering alcoholic it broke my heart to hear that.My problem is,I want to help him,but for the life of me I can't think of any way to do it without his compliance.I can't physically keep him from drinking or threaten to kick his ass if he does it again,he's a black belt.He would wipe the floor with me.

I'm just kind of wondering if maybe any of you could offer some advice that might help me,help him.

I'll admit it,I thought you were serious. :lol But seriously,I'd like to be able to help him.Quitting means suffering.If you are hooked on anything and want to stop,you have to be willing to suffer.

give it to him like it is, if he doesn't see it as a problem, that's his decision.

Nah,he knows he has a problem.It just sucks that he relapsed after 2 years of sobriety.It can be a devastating setback after all the work he put in.It's sad when you think about it.
