I am going to post this just in case I keep having the same problem. I got a CDZ and some games for Christmas, and everyone of the games works fine. However, when I put KOF 98 into the drive, it boots into teh CD player. It recognizes the disk, as it will play the music, but it will not recognize it as a game CD.

Does anyone know why this might be going on? This was a new/sealer KOF 98 with calendar.

This baffles me. All of my other games work, and I just checked the back of the KOF 98 CD and it is crystal clear. Could it be factory defect?

Put it in your pc and see if it has a data track on it ;-) Will a home cd player play track one as audio? If so, it is either not the game or it is a defect.

Can you take a picture of the disc for me?  label side.

if anything is wrong, just let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.  It should be the same looking disc as KOF 98 normal edition.

~ I don't know if it's track 1... but i BELIEVE you can play it in a normal cd player at home.

Bv :hat

Could very well be a defect. Have you "explored" the CD while it's in the drive to see what the contents of the actual CD are? If it looks like game files, i.e video files, sound files, etc., then I would exchange it. Another last ditch effort would be to clean your registry, sometimes doing that will "magically" fix errors like this.

what I am saying is that if Track 1 is audio, this is not a game disk.

There are definitely some reasons I love my Mac. I put my KOF 98 disk in and it seperated it into the KOF 98 part and the Audio CD part. It starts at audio track 2.

Bluevoodu, I sent you the pictures.

Glad to hear the Mac can read the data side.

I got the darn thing to work. On a whim, I took some warm water and a paper towel, and wiped the back of the CD center to outer all the way around. Now it works fine. Go figure.
