Mega's Retro Experience that was a dream come true.

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
January 11th, 2010. I think I will NEVER forget this night.

There I was, having the worst day possible at work. My mother was at the hospital having surgery this morning, a co-worker called in sick so we were short handed and nobody could cover for him, so it was just me and my co-worker, Rick. I was feeling really depressed by then until closing time hit. 849pm. closing time has passed Sam's Club by now, gathering the final carts and helping the last customers.

You had to be there to see it. Middle of the parking lot at Sam's Club. An old dude who looked like Santa Claus on vacation, a man named James loading a large object out of a van. I was standing at the exit door of the store and out of the corner of my eye I saw, an Arcade Cabinet standing there in the middle of the lot. I told Rick, "I gotta check this out.." and went over to double check to see if I was tripping out from exhaustion. There, before me stood TRON 1982 Arcade Cabinet.TRON 1982

I turned around and looked on the ground to see, a beautiful Ms. Pac-Man Cocktail Table from 1981

Who were these guys? What were they doing in this parking lot? Apparently, they were coin-op dealers from Colorado who travel all over the USA buying out these Arcade cabinets, Prize Machines, and Pinball machines. The van was loaded with everything I could think of, I think my mind and heart went racing like "Blast-Processing" on a Sega Genesis.

Their company is named "Juke Joint Johnnie". Since 1974 Mr. Johnnie has bought, sold, traded, and repaired these wonderful machines. James gave me their business card and we started talking about these machines until they rolled out a gorgeous chrome plated pinball machine from 1994. Demolition Man 1994

It never was a dull moment, so I decided to ask them if they come across anything Neo Geo related. These guys actually knew exactly what I was talking about and OFFERED me one for $200 on the spot! They have 5 ready to go that are located somewhere in Mississippi! I mean, what are they odds a man with a fully dedicated 2 slot Neo Geo MVS falls in your laps, let alone show up in the MIDDLE of Waco Texas!! If I had the room, I would buy that beast easily!

So after I got the business card, I asked him if I could see what was in the van since everything was covered with packing blankets and bubble wrap for safety. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw this beautiful Pinball machine from 1992, that happens to be the BEST selling Pinball Machine of all time. THE ADDAMS FAMILY!

After my head stopped spinning from nerd-spasms,I really wish I brought my camera, but was able to take one photograph which happens to be this one. When I looked up and saw the one, the only, GALAGA. An original WHITE dedicated Galaga from 1981. Majority of them were black/green, but this one is very rare and the original.

He also had one other game, but I couldn't see the title since it was covered up. Mr. Johnnie couldn't remember the name of it, but I recognized the controller layout and the artwork on the bottom right of it. Thanks to Google, I remember now. It was TEMPEST.

Now my mother had a successful surgery I just found out, I'm drinking some frosty cold A&W Root Beer. I'm in great spirits, especially when something like this falls in your lap at the oddest times. Yet, Thank you God for letting me be there!! :D
