I didn't realize it was so tiny.

It's smaller than the Duke almost. :lol

I don't like the original Xbox controllers as much as the S, but that PSTwo is rediculously small. I'd be afraid of snapping it in half when plugging in a memory card.

It's not as though they couldn't have done that for the original PS2 model, they just didn't. Wonder if it's possible for the little thing to overheat.

Mai, did you get one?

What, the PStwo?

:lol

No, I didn't. I already have a PS2. The PS2 was the first system I ever bought for myself when I got my first job. I've had it since 2002 and it still works fine, so I don't see a need to replace it.

I also don't want to get a PStwo because it doesn't support the HDD, which I have for FFXI. It also is not compatible with the current multitap, which I own for Champions of Norrath.

BTW, the fact that the PStwo won't support the HDD has been confirmed to me personally by a Sony representative. She stated that there are currently no plans to make any kind of adapter. Of course, that could change in the future if Square Enix really pushes Sony to do something.

I don't see much of a point to system redesigns. They should release a reliable design the first time after plenty of stress testing IMO.

You know, as well as everyone else, that they're doing it just for the money.

Isn't that always the case?

This redesign is just to give a boost of sales since they have been slowing down and will help with X-mas sales this year.

Looks cool but not having it work with the harddrive sounds kinda stupid but probably did that to stop people frrom storing games on it.

I can kind of understand that it might boost the sales, but at the same time, I'd think that the manufacturing changes, the research on the redesign and even changes in the factory molds would be an expensive undertaking for a few more systems sold. Maybe I'm wrong about how much it really does boost sales though.

I'm just kind of irritated at the fact that to make the PStwo, Sony stopped making the PS2 altogether, so retail suffered through a shortage for almost 3 months because the demand exceeded the supply. And right now, they still can't give us enough supply to meet the demand (at least in my area). Unless they can get enough to retail everywhere during the holidays, I think it could backfire on them, especially since the XBOX and Gamecube are both doing bundle deals this year (XBOX w/Top Spin & NCAA Football 2005 + 2 months of free Live; and the Gamecube w/ Mario Kart: Double Dash).

First of all, where do you put the game in?

I think they made this PSTwo for is to stop people from using the HDloader on the console. I heard that it came with the network adapter with the PSTwo, so you wont be able to remove it and attach a HD to it. I think thats the purpose of the PSTwo. By the way, when does it hit stores?

It's a top loader. But the disc drive is basically in the same place on the right-hand side of the console.

Strangely enough, even though it's a top loader, they are still making a vertical stand for it.

It's already out.

Man...the PS2 box is basically the same size as the PSTwo!

Well is it the same price as the oringinal? I like the smaller one better than the old ones, looks better for some reason to me.

I dont know about the top loader thing, I like my PS2 vertical so I dont know how thats gonna work out for it.

Well my wife just bought me one of these new ps2's tonight for X-mas..this will be the third ps2 system I have owned now lol :lol

But theres alot of good games out for it now that I wanted, and the new system design kinda cinched the deal..I think its really cool.

Huh? Why do you have 3 PS2 consoles? I mean isn't 1 enough? Unless you dont take good care of your console.

they don't last as well.  Hopefully the new smaller Ps2 will though.
This is not sony hatred (Neph) I am just stating the facts from Gamestores and what they have go in for repairs.

My buddy had to send his back to Sony after 2 weeks.
He keeps good care of his stuff like I do.

I really really hope they fixed the system problems.  Its cool seeing a smaller system like that, but I hope it has proper cooling and won't everheat.  That is a problem with Laptops, smaller devices..etc.. that you need good cooling and ventilation on them so they don't over heat... and with the system like that, I would be a tad worried.... and maybe trying to figure out some ventalition solutions.

It does look cool though.

They should have figured out a way to make it 4 player.

You know whats funny... that PLaystation 2 looks like it could be a special game for the Xbox :lol
IE if you see Neo Geo AES cartridges... they are huge... well... that pstwo looks like game that would fit in the huge Xbox :lol :lol

Well...I do think the PS2 myth is a little exagerated. Let's not forget how much more they sell compaired to XBOX's and Gamecube's, so of course the ratio for breaking down is gonna be higher. I've never had a single problem with my PS2 or both PSones i've had though, and neither have my friends.
