PS3...thoughts so far

I guess since we couldn't throw opinions around in other topics, I decided to make one. A good friend of mine has brought his PS3 over twice...and it shall never happen again. I guess if you want a Blu-ray player...get it. Other than that, stay away.

Let's talk games (yes I do know the library isn't big yet...then again..the 360 had Call of Duty 2 at debut):

Resistance: Fall of Man...I thought it'd be better given the hype...but no. It seemed like CoD with aliens. After playing Gears of War on the 360 (though ones a 3rd person shooter and the other's a 1st person shooter)...I just couldn't get into it. Graphics of course, were top notch. I can't complain about that.

Motorstorm was bad. The physics were almost TOO realistic. You hit a rock...you fly off the cliff. I guess it's eye candy if nothing else.

NBA 2K7.....Sports games don't start off well on any new console....So it's not fair to judge this game.

Those were really the only games that were hyped and needed to be looked at.

The price is a little too expensive. Then again, if you want a Blu-ray player...like I said...then feel free to waste away. If you want a gaming system, look else-where. These are just my major gripes right now. Yes, the game library will pick up...although most of it's exclusives are slipping away...and the hardware might be put to better use...but for right now...in MY opinion...the PS3 is trash. I have no doubt in my mind, after a price drop and better games come out, the PS3 will shine...but right now...It's nothing to me. And to everyone who thinks I'm just bashing on the PS3....I'm one of the biggest Sony fanboys out there...then again...I'm a Microsoft and Nintendo fanboy as well. Consider it constructive criticism if you will. :)

Come on Strubes. Can't we just drop this topic for now? There really isn't any point in arguing over something that's been out for 5 months.

Hey, its not that I don't like your opinion (have a 360 and I don't plan to get a PS3 for a while), its just that I don't want to see this turn into a war between PS3 fanboys and PS3 haters (I'm not really sure if that last one really describes you, but I couldn't really think of anything else).

I'm not turning it into a war. It's just my opinion.

Which brings me to my next question. What do you guys think of it? :) If you have one, what are it's redeeming qualities? Maybe you're seeing something that I'm not. What about it's online service and downloadable games? How are those working? How big is the library of downloadable games? What are the prices? I'm learning more about the system. I love every system and I want to see each one fluorish. The PS3's just dissapointing me right now. No harm done. :)

Why isn't Blu-Ray any good? I don't know a whole lot about it yet.

If the system itself is really, really poor, I GUESS I can understand people bashing it. But I can't for the life of my understand why people hate it because it's got no good games YET. Just wait longer, no doubt they'll be great games in time. In my opinion, the Wii is lacking in games right now too.

Yes, the Wii is lacking great games, and so was the 360 when it came out...cept the 360 did have a few good ones at release. Like I said, no doubt will the PS3 pick up steam once it's library starts growing. Other than that, I just thought the Wii had a better showing at launch. BUT, anything further to do with the Wii should be kept to another topic. :)

Yes, and Resistance was the PS3's premiere game. It just didn't do it for me though.

By about 6 months into the 360's lifespan, it also got oblivion and GRAW and the PS3 is about 6 months in and it still doesn't have a lot of grerat games out there.

REsistance is pretty decent...

Unfortunately... the Ps3 though isn't launching well. It says something when they've already caught up with their initial demand (equilibrium point) a month ago. AND it also says something when the Ps2 is outselling the new console by a lot when the new system should be in demand more.

Are there any good, exclusive RPG's for the PS3? (other than FF 13, which may not even be exclusive)

That was the PS2's selling point for me, the RPGS (that and great exclusive titles i.e. God of War). I guess this is why I have faith in the PS3, but I'm not liking the fact that there's no RPG's rumoured apart from FF13. :-\

Actually the 360 has like 3 big RPG's this year: Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and eternal sonata. Its doing better with RPG's than the PS3 which is like the opposite of last generation.

The thing is, lots of people do not want to give it time. If you want to play good games, the PS3 cannot provide for you now, and that is why people are bashing it.

Meanwhile, I'll just go hug my 360 and its awesome library of games.
