Hi Addicts!

I love the "Internet",there is so much you can do.

Unfortunately, aside from the fun stuff comes some pretty ominous capabilities, which seems to grow and grow and grow at such a rate that one can't help but wonder if the net will be the tool that will destroy us.These days, everyone(present company accepted :lol)is out to rip you off.

Any Thoughts?

i have no thoughts but let me just say that as soon as i opened my email and read that there was a new thread

Am I that predictable? :lol

It causes something Neil Postman refers to as "information glut." Availability of information is no longer an issue thanks to the internet, but making sense of it is now a huge problem, perhaps just as detrimental as the first.

I'll leave it at that... for now. :lol

The internet is a tool, and like all tools, the inherent danger is only in those who use said tool.

As far as communications and information, the internet is a boon to what humanity can accomplish.

(Disclaimer, the word "can" is the operative word in the last statement.)

Humanity is to lazy to accomplish anything

even laborers are starting to get lazy...and use tools and remote control machines to do there jobs...

He's got a point.

A lot of products are designed to accommodate human laziness.Remote Control,Dishwashers, all kinds of stuff.

You are getting lazy about grammar! It's "their" jobs".

But I actually agree only partially. The workforce in certain industrialized countries is getting lazier. But that is why cheap labor from other countries is taking that niche. Why do you think so many clothes bought in American stores are made overseas? Someone over there is not lazy and works for a far lower wage than a worker over here.

No. They were designed to enhance efficiency and productivity. It's just that people choose to be lazy.

Hell even this one dude accomplished putting a motor on a Lazyboy chair

now talk about lazy...

:lol

It's almost like the lazyboy George had on "Seinfeld" with the built-in fridge.I wonder if they're real. :D

Would the remote still be considered efficient or even exist if people didn't mind getting up out of their comfy chairs to change the station?

It's definitely efficient, especially if you go by the definition of the word. Let's say I'm in the kitchen or somewhere else and I'm working on another task. Rather than wasting time and heading to the TV I can just use the remote.

Exactly my thoughts as well. Just like cars, airplanes, etc,...They simply make us more efficient as people and able to accomplish more in much shorter time.

It would take only a few seconds to go to the TV.How can a few seconds be considered a waste of time? What kind of task is so important, that a few seconds would become so critical? :lol

Maybe I'm cooking a huge feast for family and friends. and a few seconds could matter when cooking. Like I said, it's all about how you use it. If you choose to be lazy, then so be it. But it's made to save time, which means efficiency.

C'mon guys,airplanes don't apply.

If a person living in North America wants to travel to Russia via an airplane,it's not because he or she is lazy. What are you going to do?Swim across the Atlantic?
