December 25, 2007 - Bandai Namco still hasn't gotten around to announcing a platform for Tales of Vesperia, the new Tales game that was announced at the Jump Festa event this past weekend. But the company did provide a big hint at the game's new website, which now hosts a first trailer clip.

The trailer is available in 720p resolution, indicating that we're looking at an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 (or possibly both) entry in the series. A look at the cell shaded gameplay footage contained within the trailer all but confirms that this is a next generation entry in the series.

While Bandai Namco did announce that Kousuke Fujishima and Production I.G. would be contributing to the Vesperia Project, the trailer reveals another member of the development staff: Yoshito Higuchi. The director of Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Abyss, Higuchi is serving as producer and chief director on the new game.

Download the trailer for yourself at the Tales of Vesperia official site (click the purple buttons to download the high res version or stream a low res version). Vesperia looks pretty far along, so we're expecting new details, and confirmation of a platform, to follow shortly.

Yeah if it's PS3 only I will be getting a PS3 for it. :D

But maybe it will be on the 360 as well.

Even if it's out for both, I'll probably end up getting it for the PS3. I just can't wait. Oh man, so cool! :D

Yeah, I was checking that out too. The characters look awesome...and it looks like it's going to have a familiar battle system that we all know and love. :)

if it's for ps3 then ok if it's for 360 then i'll buy one right away XD (i was going to buy one anyway)

If it's not multiplatform, I would say it's more likely to be on the PS3 than the 360. Most Tales games have been on Sony systems.

My love of the Tales series is much much larger than my dislike of Sony systems. Therefore a Tales game on the PS3 means I buy a PS3. :D

Tales games are the reason I have a PSP, you know. :p

Never said I didn't want one. ;)

By the time the Tales game comes out the PS3 and its accessories should be cheaper, which will be good. :)

mmhhmm I remember a few weeks ago when you weren't so keen on a PS3...but the tables have turned. ;)

The newest issue of Play magazine has some good info on Tales of Vesperia, including the following:

-90% of the Tales of Symphonia team is working on Vesperia
-Vesperia will have the most anime FMV of any Tales yet, in full 720p HD
-They started work in Vesperia even before Tales of the Abyss
-The battles are a solid 60 fps
-They intend to ship the game complete, so no downloadable content
-The game is about 60% done already
-The theme song will be the same in the Japanese and English version

Not much in the way of screenshots, but I'm excited.

I don't have a 360, but this is still awesome news to me :D

Oh, here's some screenshots I managed to find.

The guy with the black hair is the main character, Yuri (I wouldn't be surprised if they change his name between now and when it gets released). The blond is his best friend, Flynn. I'm not sure about the other characters, though. But Yuri also has a dog that fights in your party.

i thought yuri meant.......never mind XD.

i'm exited about this game already, the cut-scenes look amazing, and the fact that the symphonia staff is working on it rises some hopes
