WII, PS3 AND 360 FTW (also nintendo DS XD)
the question is wich of these 2 pokemon are cooler charizard the great flying lizard (or dragon) or blastoise the water cannon turtle?
and wich of their attacks (not their best just these 2) are more useful in battle and in the overworld map.

fhq and i had a little discussion about this and we didn't manage to get a clear answer so we decide to get this discussion here to the forums so everyone enjoys it XD

Hey, I was involved in that one too....barely. XD

And yeah, Charizard is cooler, and Fly is more useful in battle and on the overworld map.

Agreed. Charizard's the man....err...Pokeman.

Fly is not more useful in battle. It shows your opponent exactly what you're going to do, so they can switch accordingly. Plus, a six foot turtle with dual cannons beats a dragon.

But in the same way, it can be incredibly useful when your opponent shows what they are going to do. Rather than taking a shot from a hyperbeam, you can just fly above it.

No one would use Hyper Beam, either, because it exposes you for a turn. And how would they show they're setting up for a Hyper Beam, there's much better things to set up.

ahhh but what about sollarbeam? and yeah there's people that use hyperbeam becuase it might give you the kill you need.

Judging that you want the one turn variation of Solar Beam, there would be a Sunny Day in effect, so Charizard or whatever would be much better off using a Fire attack, as it would be super effective, STAB, and Sunny Day boosted.
and yeah there's people that use hyperbeam becuase it might give you the kill you need.
And then then next turn, the opponent can switch in perfectly and cause the most damage because you can't do anything.

still if someone uses sunny day, i fly XD....and besides why do you think this is the oldest pokemon showdow? becuase when these giants appeared there was no sunny day. and even if i a fire attack would be more effective that would make charizard much much cooler don't you think? XD.

besides you can use scary face (or that attack that makes changing pokemon impossible) and then use fly =P

So, we're going off the two turn, predictable Sunny Day that I've already covered under the name Fly.

Fly? Not really, he disappears from the screen.

Mean Look, which Charizard can't learn.

sorry sentence structure, i meant that the fire super effective makes him more cool,

yeah use mean look then change to charizard XD

Surf is super effective Water. :/ Fly is not super effective Fire. Another way Surf > Fly.

Its effect is lost when you switch.

aha but that makes blastois very repetitive with so many water moves XD, and fire and fly being a good combo (grass pokemon beware).

besides wich super cool pokemon made it to brawl? not blastoise but charizard

you got me with the mean look thing though.

and another thing is that charizard appeared in pokemon 3 movie and fought with entei...where was blastoise??? nowhere because warturtle hasn't even evolved and can't fly to aid ash XD

No Grass Pokemon would stay switched in, though. And Blastoise can use Crunch and Ice Beam, along with others.

Squirtle, which ends up as Blastoise, is still the better Pokemon even though it's a stage 1 Pokemon against a stage 3.

Squirtle never evolved, actually, and Blastoise would be better to fight an Entei anyways.

But Fly is super effective against fighting, plant, and ground Pokemon.
It's either neutral or not very effective against ground types.

yeah the slow moving turtle against the super fast entei, flying was the key there.

and the point of this is charizard and blastoise not squirtle or charmander for that matter

And didn't Charizard end up being pinned down and nearly killed? I thought so. Entei couldn't go for Blastoise's neck, it's covered by a shell, and if he did get it, he wouldn't survive a close range cannon blast.

Yeah, but if Squirtle is better than Charizard, logically, Blastoise would be many times better.

Yes, it would have, not that Blastoise would have the speed to fire one off, before Entei is at its throat.

Like I said, you can't get to Blastoise's throat, and if you stayed at his throat, you've lined yourself up with the cannon.
