What a crappy week

Nova

Boom-shacka-lacka
On monday, I missed my morning class at 8am. For some reason, my alarm clock didn't go off, or I was so tired I slept through it for some reason. My 8am class professor has a very strict attendence policy. 2 Abscense without a good reason result in a lower grade. 3 gives you an F. The same crap happened this morning. I woke up just as class ended, with my alarm clock doing absolutly nothing. It just refuses to go off at 6:50am, and I've triple checked the time, (yes, it says am, not pm) and the settings. Now I'm at high risk for failing a class I actually like because my ******** alarm clock on my phone won't go off.

seems to me you have the same "alarm won't work syndrome" i used to have, my best word of advise is to put 3 alarms each set 5 minutes after another and try to have a good night sleep (if you already haven't done so) and put one right near you, the other 2 set them far away from you (that way you will actually have to move to shut them off)

First mistake was taking an 8 am class. Seriously, I ALWAYS did poorly in morning classes. I mean, it isn't even a laziness issue. It is a matter of my mind not wanting to learn when it thought it was time to be in bed. It is more of a circadian rhythm issue.

Can you still drop/add classes this semester? Can you switch to a section that is later in the day?

If not, the above advice is good. Assuming you have a cell phone, try setting the alarm function on your cell phone so that it goes off when your alarm does. Also, try setting the cell phone and/or alarm clock AWAY from the bed so you cannot hit the snooze button while only half awake. If you actually have to get out of bed to turn the alarm off, you've already overcome one of the big steps of waking early.

If I'm reading the OP right, he's using his cell phone right now.

Grinder and Zi have good tips. I always do what Grinder said (put your alarm clock away from your bed). If you end up hitting it in your sleep anyway, move it again. You won't be able to get to it while half-asleep. If it's an important event that you cannot miss in the morning, use multiple alarm clocks. I always use my Nintendo DS as an alarm clock in situations like this.

Also, most modern TV's have "alarms" as well. I used to set my volume pretty high and the TV will turn on by itself waking me out of my slumber. Of course make sure it's not too loud that it disturbs your neighbors.

I dont have this problem at all. In fact, I can get awakened by a cat meowing down a hall from my room at two in the morning, so an alarm will wake me no problem. Ill still feel tired though, because of said cat :-\
