what is up with the PS3 commercial w/ the baby?!

This is seriously one of the worst gaming commercials I have seen... with the baby seeing the Ps3 and crying or whatever. I think the commercial is worse than the friggin super mario sunshine commercial...

What's up... they have a huge marketing push / budget (then again.. all launch systems are supposively sold)... why waste their money on a commercial like that?

Or am I missing something?

Omg I saw that and was like... WTH?!? That takes the cake on the most retarded commercial idea ever. I don't even get it...
 
To me that was like "Space Odyessy 2001" again...and it doesn't really impress me, the baby doll I think represents that "It's not for kids anymore" or something symbolic along those lines.

Unlikely. The commercials here are designed for US audiences. If you ever saw a Japanese commercial, you would be saying the same thing though.

OMFG!!!!  I love stuff like this!!!  That is the weirdest, but best commercial I have seen in so long-think about it, it makes you think about it more then a normal commrecial would.  Probably making you saying wth by the time the stuff your watching comes back on.  JUST LIKE THE PS3!!!   The PS3 will be SOOOO huge, you will forget about everything else, and only thing you will think of is how great the system is.  The baby means nothing but something for you to say wth about.  That's jsut a really quick thought about it.  I do love that commercial though....

Every time I see this commercial on Tv I change the channel cuz it'll give me nightmared... When that baby laughs, its the most twisted thing ever i think

It makes me think "What kind of french garbage is this?" and it also reminds me of the Mr. Plow commerical that airred at 4 in the morning (with the bizarre snow globe crashing to the marble floor)...and Bart says to Homer "Dad, was that your commerical?" and Homer replies..."I..... don't....know..." :lol
 
You should see the new one with the Rubix Cube....pretty much a slam on the "GameCube" processor...saying it's theirs is better...but in a symbolic style
 
I havn't seen the commercial (being on the other side of world) but it sounds pretty stupid. If I saw it, I might be able to undertsnad it, but I don't know.
