I can't believe I don't know this but what disc do I use,CD-R DVD ?

I use DVD-R's, simply because they hold more.

It's more expensive than DVD+/-R discs, but I'd recommend an external hard drive.

+1 to external hard drive.

weve got 750gb SMALL form factor External hard drives for like $100 at my local store.

2TB external drives for like $196 or something.

Another hard drive.

Optical media is worthless for backup. Hard drives are cheap and easy to backup to.
