What would happen if...

I was out to dinner tonight and was thinking of my Final Fantasy IX quest today and came across a question that needs input from outside sources. I was wondering, if we all lived in the world of Gaia (or similar. Just think of any fantasy RPG game world), what would we make our role playing games based on? Going to school/work/college?
 
That's a, um... err... interesting thought. But I bet it would be something like the Sims.
 
Great question.

My guess is that there would still be Final Fantasy-esque games out, but they would be more of a simulation then an RPG. Something for weaklings to play so that they can experience what it's like to encounter a Master Tonberry or a Cactaur. But maybe it would be more educational than fun, maybe like a virtual tutorial for people going out into the big bad world.

...Or alternatively, Tetris?
 
The world of FFIX isn't that messed up.  Just because everyone needs a weapon to take a walk isn't much different from today, except theirs are sharp and used for slashing/piercing and ours are molded to fit our hands and use little metal things called "bullets" :D
 
I have never finished an RPG in my LIFE!!!!! I've never played Final Fantasy for more than like, ten minutes either!!! I liked the Sims though. It was weird and cool. But I didn't finish that one either!
 
Apollo, I feel dreadfully sorry for you.  You have to get into RPG's more than you have, considering I find them the best genre of games ever.  They're like reading the most wonderful fantasy, but actually being a part of that other world, making choices for yourself.  You become immersed in RPG's more than any other game.  They have incredible graphics, and before you realize it, they take up tons of your time.  You become addicted, and have to have more.  They are great :D *stops staring into space and wipes tears out of eyes*
 
Well, I don't know where you live TRKorecky, but I can walk confidently outside my house without wielding some sort of primal weapon.
 
I think I've spent more time on Riven alone than any game in my life on one straight playthrough.

Its an interesting question though. If the world did end up like that, I'd have to sharpen my sword (I have nice katana in a blood red wooden sheath, looks real nice, hanging in my room :))
 
Let's just say that last year, where I live was considered the 25th most dangerous place in the United States :D

I don't carry a weapon with me, but it wouldn't be considered out of the ordinary if I did, cause I definately wouldn't be the only one.  I should send you a few of my daily newspapers, and you can see the Police Log that usually takes up an entire page. :D
 
Jeesh dude.... I thought my neighborhood was full of gangbangers.

(Cool sword Nova. Katanas are the coolest swords ever.)
 
Ya, I live in a very small city out in the middle of nowhere so aside from car accidents and the occasional robbery we don't even need police.
