Why Can't I Forget What I Saw?

Hi People!!

Around the time I joined this forum I remember making posts about shock sites and stuff, and how the videos and pics stick in your head.I've sent several e-mails to psychiatric sites with questions, but no luck.Maybe somebody in the forum can help.

When I first watched the beheading video of Eugene Armstrong and Nick Berg,I must admit I was shookin' big time. Now the initial shock is gone, but why won't this horrific experience leave my brain? My guess is maybe it's God's way of telling me not to watch these truly disturbing videos.Or could it be just to see how evil things can get.

P.S. What are these terrorists reading aloud off of like 10 pieces of paper before they behead someone?

Well, things that are traumatic...don't usually disappear from people's minds. Anything that invokes a really strong emotion in you...jealousy, rage, grief, fear, love, etc...these things get sort of etched in people's hearts...so if you expose yourself to things that are about people losing their lives...their very existences...and it sticks in your head...that makes perfect sense to me. And, at least you are not so cold and desensitized that it did not mean anything to see it. I think it is a good thing that you felt it so deeply.

I don't think you should "worry" bout the images remaining in your head and things tho...cuz seeing someone die is gruesome and horrible. If you allow yourself to see something like that it will prolly become a permanent part of you.

Some things, once you do....you cannot undo.

But it will help if you try not to focus on and worry about it so much. If you worry over it, it will make it worse and happen more often.
