I got some info today from one of my contacts that there is going to be a Windows vista coming out in July. This is going to be the latest in Windows and it is said that Halo 2 is going to be on it! Has anyone already got info on this, or details perhaps on Halo 2 actually coming to PC. I'd like to know!
 
nothing on that yet... keep us informed though if you hear anything :)

I'd buy Halo 2 if it's on the pc.... even though I Am not THAT fond of Halo or the Halo series.. I'd get it to play the game with others.

Dude who is your contact? Ive been reading everywhere that it has been delayed till next year. Doesn't seem feasible to me. Unless it's completely bare-bones.

That's as I understand it, too. A fellow from Microsoft displaying Shadowrun for PC at E3 was telling me Vista would be out next year, but more importantly and most disturbingly, games like Shadowrun designed for it will only work on Vista and not, for example, XP. Wtf?

that sucks. UNLESS Vista is pure 64 bit... and the game is designed for 64 bit.... then I can see it.

The bad thing is, when Halo 2 comes out for the PC (in I'm guessing 2007), PC gamers will be all like "Halo 2 isn't that great, the graphics suck, this sucks, that sucks, etc" because they are playing a port of a 3 year old game. Sorta like what happened with Halo 1.

Oh well, can't really be helped.

Halo 1 wasn't 3 years old on the PC.

I thought it was around 2... well regardless... 1 year.. whoopie... But the point is that, while the pc crowd were complaining, AT THE SAME TIME... the xbox crowd was still like "the graphics are awesome..etc."

The PC crowd is harder to please... if you ask me.

With Halo2, my contact says that it is only going to be on vista. But this may not be true. I guess we shall just have to wait and see.

Vista is supposed to be pure 64-bit but I think the main reason most of the newer games will only run on Vista is because of DirectX-10.
 
Vista may not be as good as they say it is. Check out what it has. It may not even be worth it. Unless you really want Halo2 on PC.
 
I will NEVER get vista simply because of trusted computing.

Which means you can only install programs that microsoft approves of.
 
Vista will come in both 32 and 64 bit versions.

Microsoft has no plans to bring DX10 to XP, so Halo 2 (for some odd reason requiring DX10 on the PC even though the Xbox graphics card is a GeForce 3) will be Vista only.

They probably think it will be some kind of killer app for Vista. That would be the only reason why to only port it over to Vista. Who knows maybe they somehow made it better.

I could be wrong... but they waited long enough :lol they better have FINALLY made it better!

so anyone know when this is coming out for sure?
i was planning on buying a new computer but i heard this might come out in the next few months so i guess i might as well wait right?
 
Probably as soon as it hits stores.

BTW, I would not rush out and adopt a new os untill a few months later. It took them a few years to get the bugs out of XP. No reason to give yourself a headache with crashes and stuff.

I tested Vista on a 3.4 ghz pc with an Nvidia Geforce 6800 and 1gig of ram. Every thing ran fine and there was no slowdown. If you bought a PC with at least that now, it will run fine.
