The PS2 was the weakest graphically, and just had a DVD going for it. If Sony had ignored Blu-Ray, maybe HD even, they would have sold off the PlayStation name, right?

I know absolutely no one will agree with me here, but in the end, Blu-Ray may actually end up helping the PS3 in the end. When Blu-Ray wins (and its pretty clear they will), the PS3 will be one of the cheapest Blu-Ray players out there. Also, in terms of games, Blu-Ray gives the PS3 a larger graphical advantage, and I it will probably give the PS3 a long life span that the 360 and Wii will lack.

I dont see how its clear that Blu-Ray will catch on... I know of absolutely no one with a stand alone Blu-ray player. DVDs are just fine IMO. But I do live in Iowa so that probably has something to do with i.... :lol

Blu-ray's outselling HD 3 to 1 right now...and it's expected that HD will go out of business as early as 2008. Then, Blu-ray will just sell like crazy, contrary to popular belief.

You're most likely right. But it's sad. A videogame console that's purchased as a Blu-Ray player first, and a game console second is just sad. I am actually kind of glad that the 360 and Wii didn't come with DVD playback capabilities. They are game systems. Not home theatre systems. Maybe I am a purist.

Man, I miss carts...

But that's not saying much considering HD is selling bad. Blu-ray will only sell like crazy when players drop in price, not just PS3, and people start to accept the higher blu-ray disc prices. Everything Blu-ray is a little too pricey for most people still.

I would say the Gamecube was the weakest graphically. RE4 was the best they had.

and the ps2's version of RE4 looked way worse

its physically more powerful, ps2 the weakest, its on paper.

take a look at metroid prime

if sony didnt care about graphics, why would we want a playstation 3 with graphics worse than wii? and if it doesnt have HD, it couldnt have bluray

I know, but the ability to play Blu-Ray isn't the only advantage a Blu-Ray drive gives to the PS3.

Sony won two console wars. Now if a hot girl made out with you twice, wouldnt you expect it to happen again?

That was the most pointless thing i have ever read, heard, or seen on tv

Im saying that if History Repeats itself twice, wouldnt you expect it to happen again?

And the start was only 'cause the hardcores like to camp out, and only the hardcores want to spend all that money. So if anything, after they phase out what they want, sales will drop. They say it's increased 135%, pfft, so? The sales were low.

No company has ever won three generations in a row, keep that in mind. With the SNES the absolute king of gaming back in the early 90's everyone thought that the N64 would creme that Playstation. But the reality was that Playstation sold 3 times as many consoles than the N64.

BUT keep this in mind

Back when Sega and Nintendo where duking it out Sega did have quite a big lead over Nintendo. But after the emergence of franchises like Donkey Kong, Nintendo eventually overwhelmed Sega.

Nintendo SNES: 49,020,000
Sega Mega Drive (Genesis): 30,750,000
