Actions of Anonymous

Yeah, I just saw that:

During the investigations, which have gone on for two weeks so far with many online networks offline, Sony discovered a file on its system named Anonymous that contained the group's sort of catchphrase, "We are Legion," wrote Kazuo Hirai, the Sony Computer Entertainment president and America division chairman.

Come on, I highly doubt Anonymous is THAT stupid.

And even if they penetrated the defenses and left their calling card, then it only proves that Anonymous was capable of hacking Sony, which I don't think is anything new, and does not also prove that they stole information. That would be drawing an illogical conclusion.

I guess what's confusing to me is that it seems like really all they did was copy and pasted data from one server to another, or whatever. Something along those lines. How could you accidentally insert data instead? Especially the exact data saying who you were.

(at least the ones that can be corroborated to actually be from Anonymous members, and not people acting in the name of Anonymous)
The issue with Anonymous is that there is really no distinction between the two. It's a completely decentralized organization of people and anyone who decides to act in Anonymous' name is effectively a part of the group. Maybe in their mission statement they're trying to defend the little guy against faceless corporations, but in reality it just turns into a mob of hackers who do whatever they want under that pretense.

Why?

I'm just curious, what are your reasons for holding that opinion?

i dont have a huge issue with hackers that cheats like auto-aim or w/e its called. but when it comes to hacking peoples personal information, that pisses me off!!! >:( >:(
