Any "Health Nuts" In The House?

M

MR.KAZ

Lurker
The only things I drink are pop and milk.
Everyone tells me that I should drink at least 3 big glasses of water per day.Isn't there enough water in the pop and milk to suffice? It's all liquid.

Peace.
Kaz

Well I wouldn't call myself a health nut, but I am on a very strict diet due to my health. Fruit juice, water, and limited amount of milk is what I drink. Half of the stuff on the store shelves I can't have due to the ingredients. I can only have 3oz of meat five times a week. And then it has to be something like chicken or turkey that has been skinned and baked in the oven. eowwww. I have to eat "good" things and no junk food.

It takes a lot of discipline to do what you're doing.Good for you retro, keep it up.

KAZ, it's your body and you can choose what you wanna put in it, but truth be told, that much pop is horrible for you. The majority of your fluids should come from water and juice, and pop should be limited to one a day if even.

x2,When you say juice,do you mean "Kool-Aid" or like "Five Alive",or "V8"?

Yeah, pop will corrode your teeth really bad. Trust me on that. Especially if you grind your teeth in your sleep, you should not drink more than one can of pop a day, max, and you drink water immediately afterwards to wash it off your teeth and dilute it.

Also it eats your bones and digestive system. There's enough sugar and sodium in it that it doesn't actually hydrate you. And it's addictive. If you drink too much for too long and try to cut back your body could go through major withdrawals. Basically, the less you can drink, the better.

I'm not really a health nut, but a lot of health problems I've had I've found can be "cured" pretty easily by changing up your diet. I used to have a couple problems, fatigue, poor immune system, and a few other systems, that I went to see a doctor about, but I was told they were all unrelated and incurable. They would either go away on their own or not. I then checked online to see what other people with similar problems did. Eating more fruit was the answer. Or any at all really. Ever since then I've made a point of eating a few fruit servings throughout my week and every problem I had either went away completely or decreased immensely.

You are what you eat.

Well said, Stealth. Eating real fruit and veggies is the best, but a good multi-vitamin on top of that is also a good idea. Fish oil capsules {omega 3} are also excellent for overall health.

I take supplements for fruit and fish, actually. :lol

And yeah, fish is incredible for you. Particularly salmon or fish that aren't tuna basically.

Good tip x2.

During the last year I changed my diet greatly by lowering my cholesterol and sugar, and just like that I lost over 50 pounds after having Subway for lunch so much along with some grilled chicken because I don't eat Hamburgers and Hot Dogs anymore, plus I drink more water and Diet Green Tea than sport drinks and juices, so I don't drink Soda anymore because of corn syrup.

Edit: But I gotta get more exercise while dieting.

I have mostly eliminated buying pop/soft drinks/soda from my diet. I'd rather drink Gatorade (twice as much liquid per sugar content), water, tea, or energy drinks (sugar free).

I will occasionally get a cup of Coke on ice if I am out, but will mix it half & half Cherry Coke and Diet Coke if from a fountain... That is with no refills and only a small size for that matter.

I used to drink a ton of Mountain Dew. After working in a hospital and seeing so many diabetic patients who were addicted to soft drinks, I decided to cut back for my own health.

Funny you mention that. My Uncle recently found out he was diabetic. He went in for a check up {said he just felt "off"} and his blood sugar was so high he shouldn't have even been alive. The main culprit was 3-4 20oz Mountain Dew's every day. I think a lot of people simply don't know that so much sugar can lead to diabetes. Sugar is also responsible for crashing, fatigue, irritability, increased hunger, and many other negatives. It's just best to keep it to a minimum.

I notice that sugar in pop is mentioned a lot. What about diet pop?Doesn't that make a difference?
