Are the Move and Kinect Add-ons?

Will the Sony Move and the Microsoft Kinect be treated as “add-ons?” To keep everything in perspective, the Wii controller is the standard pack-in. Everyone who has purchased the system, has one. Where as, the Move and Kinect, a consumer, has to be convinced to purchase the item. In the past an add-on usually met an untimely death at the hands of the game developers. They were not well received. Developers focused on the original basic package when it came to their games. Any add-on mostly ended up with a hand full of games.

Do you think the game industry is willing to take the risk with the Move and Kinect?

Or will the Move and Kinect take their place along beside the NES Glove, N64 DD, NES Robot, SNES Super Scope, the Sega Menacer, ..........

They are add-ons because those systems are already well into their life with games that don't use the new controls. I personally think it's better this way since I'm not forced to own either a Kinect or Move Since I can't stand motion controls. So I'm not stuck with a bunch of those games and still have all the blockbuster titles. I think this is the way to go. The only reason it won't sell as well as the Wii is because people already have a Wii for motion controls. Only the ones who really like the Wii and want more will get these peripherals.

To simplify, they won't flop, but won't sell as well as the Wii either.
