Important points are in bold*

Ubisoft announced that in the month since launch its love-it or hate-it epic Assassin's Creed has sold 2.5 million copies globally. The company said the title has "greatly outstripped" its sales expectation and the game is the fastest-selling new video game IP in US history. The company now expects to sell a minimum of five million copies of Assassin's Creed before the end of their fiscal year in March '08.

Ubisoft is also boosting their income expectation by 12%, it raised fiscal year projections by an extra €15 million to €840 million ($1.2 billion). The company also says that Tom Clancy's End War, Brothers in Arms and Far Cry 2 are scheduled for their next fiscal year beginning in April. Ubisoft plans to lay out its games portfolio for next year on Jan. 23, '08.

It's a planned trilogy, is it not?
I'm not sure. I heard about that months ago, but I thought they were going to base whether or not they're doing that on sales figures.

Obviously, they're making at least a sequel, with how well Assassin's Creed sold.

I heard that people who were somewhat dissatisfied with the ending failed to take into account the fact that it was the first part of a three part story...

My friend bought this game last week. I've been dieing to play it, but finals have kept me from doing so. What exactly does "fastest selling new game IP in US history" mean?

Ok, thanks. I saw a lot of extra words thrown in there and wanted to be sure on what exactly it was they were claiming.

So, excluding all sequels or installments of games in existing franchises, Assassin's Creed is selling at a faster pace than any game has before. So does the "in US history" mean that's just counting US sales, or worldwide sales as well?

THere were a lot of "Good" games that havent even sold a million copies

Wow! Thats awesome. I'm hoping to get this game so me and my Dad can play it. I'm betting he's excited to check this game out. :D

Still waiting until January (I think>) for it to be released on PC.

Still sad that Mass Effect is a 360 exclusive. One would think MS would push for a PC port of it.

Because it looks like an interesting game. But it might not be as good as people claim it to be. People seem to be split in the middle, they either like it or don't.

I think it's a decent game. Worth buying.
