BEER THREAD

Two questions: What's your favorite beer right now and what was your thought when you first tried beer (and your age).

Of course most people, as far as I know, disliked beer upon their first taste, and for most people, as far as I know, tried it during their mid-teens, which means their pallet was quite pre-mature anyway. I personally don't acknowledge the average teen's opinion on most things, but their opinions are valid on some level I suppose.

I recall tasting it for the first time and thinking how awful it tasted. I used to ask my mother why she would ever drink it (she drank a beer once in a while, mostly wine coolers for the old lady) and she'd tell me it was an acquired taste. Well that was garbage for me at the time and thought it ridiculous.

Fast forward a decade and all I've had to drink tonight was beer! Victory Storm King, to be more exact, and not to mention my present favorite. Why is it my favorite? Well, first of all upon recieving said on Draft, which is how i prefer, you will notice it's darker then a guiness...which anything darker then a guinness I need to try which is how i fell in love with it. I'm not into that girly crap that's easy to down like a nice loaf of white bread. Ah, yes. I'm also quite fond of some hefeweizens, Amberboch, and Dogfish Head. Pretty much anything above 15% alchohol I will absolutely try and most likely fall in love with it. Though I must say the bottled Hop Devil is not so great for me.

Anyhow, please, tell me, the answer to my questions!

Cheers.

My favorite is "Root Beer".I haven't drank alcohol in over a decade. :D

Well ive been sober for about...20 days now.
And i personally drank whiskey. But when i did drink beer when the whiskey was gone i would usually drink natty light or bud light.

Why? cause its cheap and i like the taste of Natty. Bud not so much...but i was unable to drink the beer your talkin about dude. i cant even drink steel reserve cause it was disgusting.

Beer is yummy. I have yet to try any exotic beers or anything beyond mass produced, though. I like Rolling Rock, Leinie's, Moosehead, and Nordeast.

Steel reserve is disgusting to begin with. I tried it once and learned my lesson the hard way. The type of beers I'm talking about are mostly Pale Ales, IPA, Lagers, and Stouts. Which Victory Storm King is an awesome Stout. The do have another beer from Victory called the Donnybrooke stout which I beleive is 9%. Storm King is a whopping 12%, and it's outstanding. If you like Natty light I would recommend trying Victory Golden Monkey, or even Feistbeer which is really affordable, you can get case of that for maybe $20?

I like Moosehead alot actually, that was my beer of choice back in my Penn State days. Haven't tried Leinie's yet I'll have to see if any local bars carry that here in Atlanta, GA. If you like Nordeast I recommend trying Victory Whirlwind (its a seasonal summer ale) and also try Stella Artois which is somewhat main stream but it's affordable and usually my drink of choice when I goto upscale bars and restaurants.

Nice man thanks for the recommends! I'm always up for trying new beer. It's like neverending, and that's the great thing :D

Mostly like Lagers. Can't stand anything Light. Certain liquors hit me bad. And this past weekend I actually had legit Absinthe which will ruin your day.

Ah yes, Absinthe. I've tried that before but I believe it was crappy imitation. It had a light blue look to it. Didn't glow like that kind you see on EuroTrip ( which I tend on trying when I make my trip to Amsterdam in the fall). But I'm not sure, the kind I had tasted good but I didn't feel any different, nor did I see any rainbow unicorns.

Steel reserve is nasty. and i dont like Stella Artois that much. guess im just more of a cheap beer type of guy... hmm...oh well...

Well I guess through out the years i've acquired a pretty picky taste in beers. Mainstream beers like miller lite, bud light, coors light, and such don't really do it for me anymore. Just reminds me of being back in college and playing beer pong with the guys, new beer is always good to try in my book.
Which I do agree with x2, the different types of beer are never ending. So it's always exciting to try something new.

Absinthe is a neon green. Smells like Nail Polish/Black Liquorice. And tastes alot like Black Liquorice. Absinthe won't make you hallucinate nowadays.

Look Guys,I mean no disrespect,but Absinthe? C'mon.

Yeah I know what you mean, the thread title is BEER THREAD, I apologize for getting off topic. Just always wondered if the kind I tried before was a legit kind. Cause I literally felt nothing, not even slightly buzzed. Good to know they really don't make a "legit" kind anymore. But back to the beer!

::pops open an ice cold KILLIANS IRISH RED:: - another favorite of mine :D
