Best Console Startup Screens?

For my money, it's got to be the Neo Geo Pocket Color. You get a charming animation with an equally charming little song. I turn it on an dI can't help but smile. Second would have to be the Sega Dreamcast's with the bouncing dot and the echoing drip sounds. And third would definitely be the Gamecube's.

Here's the NGPC boot screen song. It's just a joy to turn the thing on.

Least favorite would be the DS. It's kind of a dull tone with minimal animation and then a BIG FAT WARNING on the lower screen. Talk about a kill-joy.

I think mine would be the original Playstation. It just sounded epic and you knew that you were about to play something awesome. Especially when it preceded any of the Resident Evil games.

That's actually what I was thinking. Like that preceding Resident Evil 2 is one of my favorite memories ever. It's like the 2 were meant for each other. It was almost kind of serious and ominous so they just fit together really well.

Sega genesis...... I will always remember the iconic "SEGA" at the beginning of every game

Wasn't that mostly from First Party games though? As much as I love that opening, it wasn't as consistent throughout the games. Which is why for me it doesn't really count. Again, that's just me though.

I wouldn't know... I never had anything but sega first party games.... If they had a different start up screen then i just found out XD.

If it doesn't count then i'll have to go with the gamecube start up screen just because you could mess around with it.

I totally forgot about the GC start up. I liked when you hold down Z and it's that creepy (child, to most) laughter. The regular jingle itself is also really, really good.

Really? Man, today is just full of surprises. Sega had great third party games. I'm shocked again.

I was a toddler when i had my sega genesis so the choice of games was not mine

For me it's the PS2 with the Dreamcast in a close second.

That would be correct. A lot of third party developers took liberty with the boot screen. Earthworm Jim had Jim flexing and his pants falling off and Beavis & Butt-Head had Butt-Head walking out and hitting the Sega logo with a stick. Both had their own sounds with no Sega jingle. Most did but some didn't even have the Sega logo. Electronic Arts had their own logo come up.

Yeah gonna go with the Neo Geo Pocket Color. It's the one I can watch everytime without wanting to skip :)

I wish the Dreamcast had the Devkit start up though

Original PSOne, and then GameCube. It is awesome. Has a wonderful ambiance and you can play around with it if you want.

But lately I love seeing the "PS3" in a cool font appearing with a bunch of cool graphics twirling around. :P

I'm split between these two. Especially when you think about the games that you played right after them.

The Dreamcast with it's smooth transition and catchy bumpy beat.

And the Sega Saturn's startup screen made it seem like you were about to enter a movie-like experience.

the Japanese Saturn had a sexier one imho.

Oh and the rare HITACHI SATURN

NGPC was always happy to see you. :D

Of course, I can't deny the NEO GEO AES/MVS had some wicked intros.

Personally, I love the original PS1 intro. It was like a THX Sound Test lol

Modern wise? The new 360 spin logo is dazzling and blinding :D

@Icy, yeah GameCube and Dreamcast had a clever one.

Yup and Vectorman falling off the Sega logo, there's tons of them that were funny. Like Taz-Mania had Taz eat the logo.

And finally, the Sega CD Model 2 had some soothing music.
