Call of Duty World at war.

I hope this COD takes place all over the world. It might be enough to warrant me a purchase!!! BEcause if 4 was the 8th bestselling game of all time

Well CoD4 was made by Infany Ward a differnt branch of activision. Treyarch is also a differnt set of activision with completly differnt people than Infany Ward so, this one might be alot differnt than CoD4. Who knows?

Yes. However, there were only three major fronts to WWII (four if you count North Africa and Italy), so it isn't as though they could have made it take place across the whole world.
Yes thats very true but I at least hope that they do something different as you posted above, I don't want to do some sort of tank fight in Russia like most games about WW2 have.
I think that COD will do a good job though I do wonder how they will make World at War different than Medal of Honor - Rising Sun. Rising Sun took place in the Pacific Front also and it had swords and such also.

i dont know if ill buy it or not. if it does something different might. im sick of world war 2. really how many nazis and japanese were there. dont you think with all the games they'd be extinct by now. its as if thats the only war anybody can make a decent game off of. id like to see somebody give another war a chance to have its glory days since ww2 are long gone and we see the same things again and again

If they wanted to differentiate themselves from Rising Sun, they could always use gameplay that doesn't suck. :lol

Yeah, for once I'd like them to use a battle other than Kursk or Stalingrad. If you're playing on the Russian Front, you're always either in a tank at Kursk or fighting through the streets of Stalingrad. It's really gotten old.

What is the most recent war that has been done in games? Ive never seen one go beyond WW2 before, or I think.
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down was set in Somalia in '93 I think. That's the most recent one I can think of. There have been some games based on the first Iraq war too, I think.

Oh so they are moving quite along with keeping with the times. I was always turned off at how often we get to relive the World Wars, we already know the conclusion so it eliminates any sort of appeal in the titles. I wouldnt mind the Desert Storm ones.

So, how exactly does going to a different war that's already happened solve the problem with knowing the outcome? And you'd know the outcome anyways. Your side wins. It's kinda obvious.

I was just stating that we have so many games that cover the World Wars that there is little left for us to uncover, just as the wars have been studied extensively in literature. I have no knowledge really of Desert Storm and such, so more games in this field would help me gain a new perspective and feel of the war.

If you want to learn about a war, a game is probably the last place you'd go, thanks to something called creative freedom.

There will be a campaign taking place on the Russian Front (hopefully they do something other than Stalingrad or Kursk this time around) and a campaign, taking place in the Pacific, fighting the Japanese.
I wish they would do a game on the Korean War or at least a very very good one on Vietnam, there are just so many plots you could use for a game about those wars but I think that developers stay clear of them cause the wars were controversial. They happened over 40 years ago so I think we can have a decent Post WW2 game by now.

Im not liking the fact that this game will take place in WW2 i love COD4 and i think they should have stucked to that though the katana and co op has caugth my atention to me this is a rent game.

The Korean War I think would be less controversial, but when you start moving into Vietnam or really any major conflict that happened in the past 50 years, you start to get into some sensitive territory, territory that few game makers are willing to venture into apparently.

Thanks for that link dude and I love seeing that flamethrower in action, you can almost feel the heat off those flames and they have done a pretty good job with making the game real hectic on the battlefield just like real war is. I notice that once again it appears that they have shied away from making it bloody. Even COD4 had quiet a bit of blood when you got head shots but I don't see any blood splatter in this demo but maybe I didn't look close enough since the screen was small. Over all from that video though I think this is going to be a buy for war game buffs like myself. The Co-Op looks great all by its self.

What do you think? I dont think im gonna get it, it looks sucky. Besides its made by plain Treyarch, a really sucky branch of activision. (In my oppinion.)
