When this generation was just getting started, Capcom did something a lot of Japanese publishers wouldn't do - they bet on the Xbox 360. Now other big names like Square Enix are following suit, while Capcom is already working on sequels to Lost Planet and Dead Rising.
According to a Capcom interview with Keiji Inafune though (via Kotaku), it wasn't easy going against the crowd. When asked if there was some disapproval expressed about developing for the 360, Inafune said, "Yes, that's true."
"I think I can only get away with saying this now, but I really thought that the using the Xbox was only way to break into overseas markets, and I took that hypothesis all the way," he said. "In the end, I am very happy that I did so." Bet Capcom is too.
Thanks to Capcom, they paved the wave for all companies to say, "it's okay to be different"
