The legendary Castlevania series returns with a new story and a new hero. Hector, one of two Devil Forgemasters who once trained under Dracula, has fled Vallachia disillusioned with the ideals of his mentor. Now, three years after Dracula was defeated in battle at the hands of the Belmonts, Isaac - a former friend and fellow Devil Forgemaster suddenly reappears and orchestrates the execution of Hector's beloved. Fueled by revenge, Hector returns to Vallachia to confront Isaac.-MagicBox

Depends. Castlevania came first as a side-scroller, but the new game use an engine pretty much identical to the DMC engine.

*sigh* Well I better break the news...

This game takes place 3 years after "CastleVania 3: Dracula's Curse" from NES.....and yes...Alucard is back, yet I'm sure it's a cameo, but keep your fingers crossed, because he might be a playable character..

oh and btw guys...

its funny how dmc ripped off castlevania then castlevania rips off dmc's gameplay :lol i liked lament of innocence way better than any dmc game though and i love the dmc games! ::D it looks like konami finally realised how to make good 3d castlevanias! :D *stares evilly at his n64*

Hold on, before we start attacking N64's dreaded pair...the fact is I liked both of them "CV64 and CV Legacy of Darkness" It tried so hard to go in a direction, yet we all know it just didn't feel right. Imho the biggest reason this game didn't do so well. Was due to the fact it came out the next year after CastleVania SOTN was released. By then, we were so spoiled on how a CastleVania game should be, that when we were introduced to a 3D game we all felt a bit jaded over the issue. So instantly all I heard during that year in 1998, about how bad it sucked and etc. etc....Yet to me, it was very good and an interesting first attempt into the 3D Realm...

Little off topic, but did you ever see the one where Chappelle is GTA. They have him stop the car, shoot the guy and get in. I thought it was pretty funny.
