Clean Up... and Ideas Thread - For Update

Ideas... post them here... anything you'd like to see on the forums, changes, and/or feature requests.

As stated, I'm trying to get the site updated starting around the Christmas time frame. We could definitely use some members to help create new topics and review sections of the boards. I Will send a member newsletter out... I'm kind-of wondering if we shouldn't vote on it.

post it up!! Let's get the conversation moving. It's time to get things active again :)

Also, I am going to ask that you all help invite people to the forums once we are upgaded and back to live.

FYI... until we are upgraded... I have killed new registrations.

Ok.

Idea one is to merge the topics. Credit goes to...I think it was Icyguy for this idea...

My personal Idea is that we possibly delete threads that haven't been updated in a long time or possibly going through and finding spam threads that haven't been filtered out.
 
If you wanted to get more people to join the forums, maybe it would be worthwhile to start a TF2 or CSS server promoting the site? Just a thought.
 
That's how I ended up and PEW's site 2 years ago. I'd probably still be there if they hadn't shut the site down.
Also how I got involved at WYHA. I'm not really part of the clan anymore, since I don't have a gaming PC anymore, but I still chat around on their forum.

I don't really have any suggestions, aside from what I already mentioned. (Merging the boards)
Get some new topics going, some update to the main site, maybe? Update the forums, etc…

Also, game servers. :D Of course, we would all have to promise to keep them semi-active. :P

And, the avatars don't work anymore. Mine disappeared one day and now when I try to choose one again it's an empty box…

Yeah for some reason some people's avatars are there and some aren't. I don't see anything if I go back in there to pick another one.
 
Well, it was mentioned in the other thread, but there were a few ideas. I mentioned the idea of a "like" or "+1" button, but I think Thrav suggested using something like that so users could gain "rep" for good posts they made by people who liked the post.
 
Yeah, I've seen it on other PHP boards.. But I don't know how hard it would be to add to the site or if this site would support it.... I think it would be major cool though.
 
I think we could condense the forums into Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox. Either that, or have current gen consoles in one forum and all of the old consoles in a Retro forum.

On two Star Fox fan sites I go to, they have boards down at the bottom with all threads older than, like, 6 months. Also locked/banned topics.

Well there ya go. Just archive them. That way its more cleaned up in main viewing areas

I would go with preserving the retro stuff in a forum. That is where I live. 8) Maybe divided into Current Consoles, PC Gaming, and Retro. Simple and to the point. New members would not be overwhelmed, if they are, when entering the site. Not sure about the phone gaming stuff, maybe its own category, a forth?
