Computer smart people please help me...

Ok, for a bit now when I go online, like I try to check email or something for instance, then suddenly a new window will pop up with like 5 tabs open and usually none of them have actual sites in them...for no reason.

I use my avira for virus protection and I use spy bot, adaware and Malwarebites. I delete my history and cookies etc....nothing makes this stop happening. Is it some setting that accidentally got turned on er something? I update my virus protection etc.

It will happen when I am on lots of different sites, sometimes it opens like 6 windos in a row all of em with 5 tabs in em usually.
It's so annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--------

Another prob I have thatr usually happens around 3 or 4 times a day if my pc is on all day is a lil square box pops up that says something bout an error er something and windows 32 er something and that it needs to close. I never see it shut anything down usually tho. I would tell u exactly what it says cept I don't recall. I could maybe update this later with what exactly it says. That thing did not used to happen at all, but it has for a few months.

------------

also I just have a question...what is a tea timer and why do my pcs have those and is it useful? I just was curious what it was cuz it always seems to be running

Hmm, sounds like it might be an actual hardware problem, like a bad memory stick or a dying hard drive. Does your computer ever randomly restart or turn off?

Hey budddddy!
No it does not ever turn off or restart on its own. I hope its not dying :( I feel like it keeps thinking that I want it to open a bunch of tabs and windows of nothingness.

Do u know what the tea timer does?

Nick does not know what is wrong with it, and said maybe I should just erase everything and start over from scratch, but you know I have like two million pics on my hard drive and i don't have anyplace to put them while I do that, so I wanna fix it some other way if I can.

There isn't some sort of program er something that could cause it, eh? like a conflict between two things er anything?

Actually they prefer the term, "SORCERERS OF THE INTERNET". You must give them an offering of Mt. Dew and Pizza to appease them! :D

I kid I kid!

You need to run a disk defrag when you have some free time, then run Malwarebites.

Are you using Firefox?

I disk defrag all the time. Does not help this prob at all.

Yes, Max, Firefox.

Ok, I am sure you have checked this, but go into "tools" on your Firefox browser and then to options. Go to "content" and make sure that the "block pop up windows" is checked.

Could be a registry issue also? Not really sure, just throwing that out there.

What does a registry issue mean?

And it always says "blocked pop up window" if I go places with pop ups so I think that is all fine,

Yes, Max, Firefox.

Then here's the problem, Max has it right that it's probably an add-on you need to disable in fire fox.

By the way, Tea Timer is an extention of Spybot Search & Destroy program. It is a resident program that keeps malware from changing registry entries.

To me, it sounds like something has gotten through your defenses. Do you keep your "Java" and "Flash" updated? I'd say adware or some small virus.

Ahhhh, thankyou for explaining that! :)

Also that error message that pops up 3 er 4 times a day just popped up again...what it says is "generic host process for win32 services has encountered a problem and needs to close. WE are sorry for any inconvenience"

The only inconvenience is that error message popping up as it does not seem to affect anything else...but what does that mean is wrong?

How long has it been since you backed up your files and did a reformat?

Ummmm.... do I have to answer that? ...Like...never?? I do not have anything else to back my files up onto becuz I have way too many photos on mypc. I guess I will have to wait until I can afford another hard drive e something

If the photos are really important to you, then we highly recommend a backup. It's essential for any important files really. Especially if you can't replace them and there are no other physical copies.

Check to see how much space your photos take up and then save up for a drive that is slightly higher in capacity. That should be the most cost efficient option right now.

With your security programs, if there is malware, it's apparently a browser redirect. Do you have any problems when searching on a major search, then having a different site than the one you clicked appear?

If that is not the problem, it could be registry errors.

With either of those two problems, a good ol' fashion reformat will fix the problem (and likely have your system running faster and with more stability).

As Creepin' said, it is essential that you get some type of backup hardware. I think usb flash drives go up to 16 or 32 GB now. If you have more than that to back up, get something like a Western Digital Passport external drive.

Ok, thanks guys! And, yes sometimes I do get redirected. I will try to save up for another hard drive er something. And then reformat. Thankyou for all your help

Ew @ redirects... Yeah, if Malwarebytes anti-malware didn't catch it, I'd suggest reformatting. Browser redirect malware is notoriously difficult to remove.

By the way, if you have a DVD burner drive, that is an option if you do not have a massive amount of files. Each DVD (single layer) should hold just over 4 Gb of data.

Also USB flash drives or portable external drives are options for backup.

I have a dvd burner on my pc but I don't think Ihave a program installed for writing on them, so I would have to get one. I have a number of USB sticks of various sizes, but still not sure if I can fit all photos onto those, but guess I should really try cuz these probs are very annoying
