But the VC does have some of the best, and that's what they were going for is the memorable ones, and outside of a lack of SNES RPG's, it's pretty good.

I personally could care less if backwards compatibility was scrapped altogether. I don't play my PSX games on my PS2 because I get sick of having some work and others not. And of course there's the whole never having backwards compatibility in the days of the NES on up.

Not really. Sometimes they just throw in some for the heck of it. Double Dribble?!

The VC does have the best library for old school games at the moment though.

Exactly. My PS3 plays all the PS2 games I have, so I don't mind it. And, even if it somehow didn't, I'd just play them on my PS2. It's simple really. Backwards compatibility isn't much of an issue at all. For example, if my Wii didn't play Gamecube games, you can always find a Gamecube for like $50 now.

Yeah, there are a few that are crap, they must get them when they can't find any more for the week.

For a site and message board named egameaddicts, I'm slightly disappointed in the amount of bias there actually is around here. It's OK to have some bias, everyone does, I know I do. But I don't see why people have to discourage others from getting a console. People on here tend to forget that not everyone has the money or the same taste as them. Arguments and discussions are OK, except when they turn personal.

I love all consoles and try to get all of them because I don't want to miss out on any cool games. I have a 360 and a Wii, soon I might get a PS3. All systems have games that I want and are looking forward to them in the upcoming years.

Ah, that's where you're wrong. No one's really saying, "Don't buy it," they're saying, "Buy this first." Everyone's ok with getting every console at some point(and if not, that's the only way you're really biased), but they still have ones they like and dislike, and they think people should get a certain one first.

hence why i rarely go into the wii threads.

No there is actually some discouragement towards consoles (PS3 mostly). I already know about people recommending other consoles. That's not what I'm talking about because that's OK.

Who's said never to buy a PS3? Hines?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not ripping on the VC, I'm just saying that Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony all promised full backwards compatibility, and none of them have come close to delivering on it.

Since when did they promise all? Got an article or something where they mentioned all with their backwards compatibility?

Like I said, it was at an E3 press conference (2005 I believe) where Sony stated the PS3 would have a game library of 10,000 because they combined the PS1 and PS2 libraries and promised backwards compatibility. When Nintendo first talked about the VC they didn't mention the fact that only so many games a month would be made available on it, that came afterwards. And when MS heard those too statements, they stated theirs would be fully BC as well. All three made incredible lofty promises they never made good on.

Well, things change, Nintendo was supposed to originally have the VC games for the obscene price of free.

hey um Stealth how bout when Sony had the 20GB and 60GB I believe that played all the games.

Yes I know, but now according to the 1up article Sony is scrapping BC on all new PS3 consoles. I'm just saying it's funny how at one time this was a critical issue and all three companies felt pressured to deliver full BC, and now, three years later, the reality is that none of them are too concerned with it at all.

That's my point. It's funny how big a difference 3 years makes.

That would have been enough for me to buy the Wii.

The 80gig has software emulation, that covers most titles, but a few have problems.

I know what you mean Creepin. One thread in particular I'm heavily praising the Wii and was letting a member know that if he's thinking about buying it, he should. Then, I go defend the PS3 and everyone thinks I hate Nintendo. I don't get why anyone would discourage people from getting a system. Like you said, they all have games that are good/going to be good in the long run.

Wow, I can't believe I didn't have anything to do with this.
