I kind of want to change my vote. I'm fine with console debates as long as they are just that: debates. When it starts degrading to bashing or personal attacks, that's tiresome.
CreepinDeth said:No there is actually some discouragement towards consoles (PS3 mostly). I already know about people recommending other consoles. That's not what I'm talking about because that's OK.
Retro Hero said:It was tiresome 8 years ago, so that hasn't changed a whole lot. The only "war" that exists is between the 3 big companies trying to outsell eachother, why normal customers feel that they're a part of this "war" and have to choose sides is testament to what a sad World we now live in. Just enjoy whatever systems/games you wanna enjoy, that's always been my perspective.
That's what people do do. >_> You pretty much just said it's pointless to like one system more than another, then said enjoy whatever ones you want.Retro Hero said:Just enjoy whatever systems/games you wanna enjoy, that's always been my perspective.

Retro Hero said:You guys missed my point completely. I'm not talking about preference, as I favour certain consoles over other ones too. I'm talking about people who feel that they have to choose ONE side and "fight" in the corner of either Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony instead of going my route and enjoying whatever appeals to them. Like I said, there's really is no war here between us, the average customer. That's why it's become tiresome to me.
Who actually feels that?Retro Hero said:You guys missed my point completely. I'm not talking about preference, as I favour certain consoles over other ones too. fhqwhgads said:I have yet to meet anyone(Hines is getting close, though) who says you should totally ignore a console forever. This early in the war, it comes down to what games each console has, and at this point, certain consoles don't have games for certain people.
fhqwhgads said:Well, they're still just liking one console more than another. And when buying a console, I'd prefer not waiting a while for games I want to play, so there's nothing wrong with saying a console doesn't have that good of games now. For me, the PS3 has only two games I want, and that isn't nearly enough to pay $500 for, so I'm not going to go around saying that the PS3 might be good in a few years, I'm going to say it isn't that good now.
retro junkie said:I think when it comes to consoles, it is really a matter of ones personal taste in gaming. As a gamer I have really never understood someone jumping on a bandwagon of touting a certain system over another. I have always looked at it from the “games rather than the system” perspective. So I guess I always have avoided the console war debates. Sooner or later I somehow end up with the systems that interest me game wise. They may be sell outs or used. Money is a factor for me, so I wait for prices to drop. There have been those occasions that certain games have tempted me and I have left my senses forking out money for a new console to play that game. But usually I try to wait it out. A console has to have enough games that spark my interest to justify my purchase. I am not into the “most powerful console” or “the greatest graphics” excitement thing. Games that I enjoy playing is what I am interested in, and that can be on anything from an early Atari system to a SNES, Jaguar, Wii, PS2, or whatever. The name brand is not what I am looking for. And you might have guessed that I have yet to enter this next generation of gaming. I have been looking. The only thing that Has caught my eye lately is NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. 8)
