I think you would be hard pressed to find a "console war" thread that didn't discuss exclusive titles and best ports. A console war thread that is restricted to system specs or functionality is useful in determining what type of games is most likely to appear on which console.

I guess, for myself personally, I do see a lot of value in comparing consoles to one another, and to find out what people like and don't like, and their reasoning for it. I don't know if that is what occurs in the average console war thread, but it certainly ought to be, and if that is the case then I certainly think they are more than tiresome drivel. We all play games for different reasons, and our console or company of choice reflects that. In short, it is interesting to find out why.

QFT!!!!

He makes a great point. It is about the games.
I'm still waiting for someone to say who here actually bases it on the company, since everyone brings up the game point.

I don't jump on any particular bandwagon. Much like Strubes, I just defend a company when people give blatantly stupid reasons *cough* Hines *cough* for disliking a company.

Although, debating is fun. Whether you look at it from the "games over the system" perspective, it's always fun to argue with people on it. It's a great topic to discuss. Now, when people get defensive, it's a different ball game.

Take into account the fact that almost everyone in the freaking world has a PS2, and you're down to $423.

I have actually never owned a ps2 myself, although my brother did. I must be missing out on alot of games.
