Boogity boogity boogity!! Let's go racing!!

Anyone watching the grandaddy of all races today? Anyone else think Earnhardt's car looks ugly? The paint scheme can be better. But at least he's been in the top five for most of the race!!

I'm a bit upset that Stewart's team decided to drop Chevrolet and pick up Toyota. Me no likey. Add that to the fact that he punched one of the Busch boys because of some contact during practice. Seems that it's okay when he complains about other peoples' driving ability, but it's okay if he does the same thing. No character...

Maybe I'll start cheering for Junior this year being as he is no longer with DEI and his evil stepmother.
 
Nope, NASCAR should be called NAPCAR. Now I like racing but I can't stand how it infects any channel that deals with cars like speed. Not to mention it's boring as hell.

Don't get me wrong, I love racing, I just hate NASCAR. I prefer LeMans, Rally, and I like to take my own cars and do SCCA and do auto-x.

I'd be willing to bet I'm a bigger gear head than anybody here.
 
I was very upset when Tony lost the lead on the last lap. He's my favorite driver.

..and I agree, Jr's car is ugly.

Heh. My knuckles are stained. I have a project car sitting under my carport. Engine out (pulled it out before I got my engine hoist). I'm doing the paint myself (currently has laquer). I have racing games that most people won't admit to owning. I have close to 3,000 diecast cars still in the boxes. I have a wall full of cars on display ( much to my wife's disaproval). I have hats on my wall from nearly every tire manufacturer on the planet. I have a Goodyear blimp hanging from the ceiling. I have five years worth of Hot Rod and Car Craft on a shelf in the bathroom. A bottle of Gojo sits in the shower. I know what brake fluid tastes like. I know what used oil tastes like. I even know what antifreeze tastes like. I have rebuilt a Rochester carn just for the fun of it. I shocked myself with a coil before. I almost droped a GM starter on my head one time. I caught daylight under all four tires one day in my T/A because I wasn't paying attention and speeding. I blame the train tracks.

Yep. I'm a resident gear head.

Oh. And go Junior.

Seriously Fhq, and all the others who have done the same, quit raining on their thread. This is an obvious appreciation thread for NASCAR and if you don't have any then just let the other posters to discuss. If this continues, including in other threads, then there will be action taken.

From here on please continue on topic.

Alright, I take that back. Sounds like you're as far gone as I am. :lol

So, what car are you working on for your project?

I haven't gotten to the stage of pulling the engine in my project yet. I'm actually finishing getting the suspension bits as I type this. I'm still trying to figure a good brand for wheel bearings then I need to order a strut tower brace and I'm still waiting for my adjustable panhard bar to get here. This summer should be fun though since i have a room full of parts that need to go on both cars. I'm just hoping I can get the suspension on and dialed in before auto-x season.

On the flip side, I don't have anyone to justify my obsession to. Nice to find another gear head on a video game site. :)
 
Although I think watching NASCAR is about as fun as having a coma, I do respect the people that race in it. Driving in NASCAR can lead to death just as in any other sport, so they should be commended.
