DEAD ISLAND Thread

A preview of what the actual gameplay will be like.

Dead Island to a mash-up of Dead Rising 2, Borderlands, Breakdown and, to a much lesser extent than you'd think, Left 4 Dead 2 -- oh, and even some Far Cry 2 sprinkled in there. That sounds a bit chaotic, sure, but this is a zombie game.

The trailer that was released a few weeks back is one of the best trailers I had seen for a video game in a long while. It didn't show gameplay unfortunately, but it was still good. I recommend everyone watch it and then watch the remix where the video is being played forwards.

Your open subject fits exactly what it is. Your typical Zombie survival game. But from what I've seen of old gameplay, it's First Person, and attacks can be carried out in chains, like fighting for your life by overpowering the zombie grappling you. The latest Duke Nukem has such grappling in it, except no real power struggle in that.

I'm trying not to be totally sold by the trailer alone. Yes, it's a fantastic trailer, and they put a good deal of thought into making something that grabs attention and keeps it. But if the game at least looks as good and there's a good backing story to follow, I'll look into getting it for myself.

But then again, I though similarly to Dead Rising and various other games, and I still don't own them. (but that's more due to not having time and money).

I'm defiantly going to be keeping my eyes on it though.
