Diablo

ok i am asking questions that i would like answered here about diablo

1. Do you need diablo 1 to play diablo 2?
2. Are there expansion packs?
3. Does anyone play online anymore? (If yes post how many at a time.)
4. What do you do on online multiplayer?
5. Is online free?

thanks.

There are some other Diablo topics already started. You dont need Diablo to play Diablo 2. There is an expanision for Diablo 2. Online is totally free. Online multiplayer is very similar to single player mode, but you can form parties with other players. Yes, many people still play online, including people from this forum.

Well you must remember that the game is about 10 years old. Of course the graphics arent going to be comprable to lets say, Unreal Tournament 2004. If you are interested in getting into the game I would suggest you get the Battlechest. For around $20 you get all the Diablo titles, plus strat guides. Diablo 2 LOD is where all the fun is at, in my opinion.

i just downloaded a demo, i dont really like it, and the graphics arent to good :-\

Like Ares said it's a ten year old game. So just play it and dont worry about the graphics. It's a decent game. I owned it on the PS1. It does get a little boring at times but the co-op is fun.

Definitely. While some people may argue that the online mode is too similar to the single player campaign, online is where all the fun is at. Playing with other people online makes the game that much better.

Online is almost exactly like single player, except you can play with others any time you want. I don't think I've ever played single player in either of the two games.

Brings back good ol' memories of when my brother and I each had computers that were slower than present-day PDAs. We would always fire up the original Diablo and play in LAN mode. That and Starcraft were our two most time-consuming games because LAN play was so amazingly fun. Then came Red Alert and Red Alert 2, and those were played frequently as well. Mmm... LAN games.

Anyway, to answer your question Ares. I don't really have any time to play anymore, thanks to school and play practice. Leave for school at 7:00 AM, get home around 5-5:30 PM. Then I still have dinner, and homework, and so on.

you didn't like diablo 2?

Diablo 1 isn't as good....  but it is still fun.

btw... don't forget... there was an expansion for diablo 1 as well... but I believe it was single player only.

1. No, only if you want to see how much different d2 is to d1
2. No, there is only an expansion for d2
3. Yes some do, mostly newbies, diablo 1 fans, and hackers
4. you do what you would do in the single player except in a group
5. Yes it is

Yeah BV wasnt it called Hellfire or something like that? Im pretty sure it was made by a different company though. I never tried it, so I cant really help ya there.

yeah ... it was called that... but I thought Blizzard made it.... some of the graphics from items made it into Diablo 2 I believe...
Could be wrong on that.

I might start a new topic on the Diablo 1 expansion.... to see if anyone knows. That was a pretty popular expansion.. I thought.

I wish Blizzard would update (release a patch) for D1.. and provide the D2 inventory / gold system into Diablo 1. That would make Diablo 1 1000% (yes 1000%) better.... that is the ONLY gripe with Diablo 1.... the inventory / gold storage system. I'd still play it if it wasn't for that.

In 1997, after the mega-selling game Diablo, Sierra Studios released the only autorized expansion pack for it, called Hellfire. Hellfire expanded on parts of the game people wanted more of the most; a new Monk character class, (several others were also included but not visible without a special file), new enemies, new bosses, new weapons, spells, and more. It gave those tired with beating Diablo a brand new challenge to fight. The Hive was the scene of the new battles. With brand new rare items and new spells, the game of Diablo would never be the same again.

So ... what is this file they are talking about that you need "

I didn't know sierra made that.... odd. What stinks is that this never gave you the option to play it online.

Personally... I wish they added 1-2 more expansions onto Diablo 2.. for a total of 2-4 new quests. That would be very cool IMO. They obviously aren't releasing Diablo 3 anytime soon... and they are still patching the game. IMO, they need another 1-2 expansion sets.

Blizzard has been busy with WoW expansion, so if Diablo 3 ever comes out, I don't think Blizzard will be the producers actually. I mean, why put 2 popular MMORPGS out at the same time, 1 free and 1 pay-to-play. They'd either have to make Diablo 3 really bad so people still pay for WoW, or make WoW free (hah!). Plus they got that new FPS Starcraft game. Blizzard is pretty busy this year ::D
