don't be deceived the ps3 is actually cheap entertainment

WII, PS3 AND 360 FTW (also nintendo DS XD)
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/sony-ps3-keeps-entertainment-simple-360-and-wii-dont/

after some studies and some calculations it turns out that the console that used to be the most expensive one in the market is actually the one that is cheap (not the cheapest though) and altogether has more amount of features than other consoles....

in other words the once overused "it's too expensive" excuse is now overruled

Nope, because when people use the phrase "Too expensive" it's more due to their income than the actual price-to-feature ratio. I personally can't really splurge that much on a console at the moment, hence "too expensive" for me. Like I've said in previous threads, the PS3 is worth the money, but that doesn't mean it can't be "expensive".

well that is true but that also can be said of both the 360 and the Wii

however, i guess that if you already have a 360 with all the features paid, it is kind of unnecessary to get a ps3 (unless you want some blu-ray or specific exclusive games)

well i guess i worded my sentence wrong i am sorry, my point is that compared to other consoles the ps3 is not that expensive as other people say it is, and after seeing this chart i definitely think it doesn't need a price cut or something like that.

The only thing they forgot to mention, is right out of the box, you don't even get a game...or have enough to afford one..

I understand Sony's point. Yet the one thing they are missing, is the price point to get consoles moving [Which was proven, that $199 was the magic number, which PS2 did] and offering the consumers variety bundles and packages. Having only 2 choices, 1 with or without a game. [if one is not discontinued within 3 or 4 months, which seems to be the case on Sony's behalf] Does not seem the best attempts.

360 has really turned heads by finally giving the people something to brag about with two bundled games. Wii needs no explanation what so ever of course. I still think Wii Sports is just a demo disk, but everyone keeps calling it a game.

Agreed. Too expensive to the common Joe? Yes. Cheap when it comes to everything that's included? You betcha.

well we also need to point out that japanese people are the lucky ones that get many more bundles than we do =_=U (aka the RE5 bundle and star ocean bundle for 360 and yakuza bundle for ps3) and the games that come with the console over here are not what i call the best of the best (aka wii sports and i think kung-fu panda for the 360?)

No need to be sorry. Anyways, you also have to remember that this is coming from Sony themselves, so it's going to be a little bit biased. You can even sense Joystiq's sarcasm in the article.

Built-in wifi (like the Wii), Blu-Ray, best ratio of great-rated games to bad-rated games (though it all comes to personal preference), the fact that you can CHARGE your controller right out of the box, with just a USB cable, and free online.

That definitely puts things in perspective. Sure, with the 360, you get two games, but if you buy a year's worth of Live, you spend another $50-$60..and if you choose to add wifi to your 360, you spend another $100. (of course both of these are optional, but a large percentage of 360 users buy both).

We get Kung Fu Panda/Lego Indiana Jones or Sega Superstar Tennis/ Xbox Live Arcade Compliation (with Arcade units)

Last year, we had Marvel Ultimate Alliance/Forza 2 Bundles.

Yet you have a valid point, the Japanese know how to market.

I would say a large percentage of 360 owners only get Live. I highly doubt many people use wireless for gaming, even on their PS3's.

Of course this may just be me, but when working at Best Buy, wireless adapters almost went 1:1 with 360's sold. Microsoft did say that they were very pleased by the amount of wifi adapters they have been selling each year, and that it's surpassed their expectations sales wise.

It could quite possibly be a location thing. Around here, hardly anyone uses WiFi, they barely use it for the Wii.

That comparison isn't fair, they should compare it to a Pro system instead of an Arcade. Only PS3 game that interests me is Little Big Planet, so $400+ is a little steep for an LBP playing machine. I'd rather have a Wii and several games.

It's essentially the same experience as the Xbox 360. Only, you can't deny that it simply does not have as solid of a game library as the 360.

If you want to get technical, PS3 has more higher rated exclusives than the 360 or Wii on average. The 360 has more games, sure, but great games, on all consoles this gen, come too few and far between.

Exclusives? Believe me, I'm over my "Xbox FTW guyz!!" fanboyism. I was just saying how I think that for a cheaper price, the Xbox 360 will offer you just as solid of an experience as the PS3 will.

Ah, because it sounded to me like you said "game library"..which would be...the games.

When I first bought my "PS3" with a few games,it came to a little north of $1,000.I thought it would take a lot longer to go down in price. In fact, within the first 4 months, the shop I bought it at was now selling them $30 cheaper.I was kicking myself for not waiting, but how could I have known? It turns out that I lucked out.Everyone is saying that I am lucky because the model I have is the 60 Gig.Why?

God Bless,

well i think you have the 60gig that is fully backwards compatible right? well those play ps2 and ps1 games without any problems unlike the 80gig which has certain problems here and there, since they don't sell the old 60gig anymore, you got yourself lucky
