Hi Members!

I'm probably risking my cyber-life making this post in this forum, but here it goes. It's quite obvious that there has been a storm of remade movies and video games based on older comic book characters.i.e. Spiderman,Hulk, etc.

Don't you think they're overdoing it little?

God Bless

Usually I would agree, but since Marvel is actually having a hand in the making of these movies, they are actually turning out great. And as far as the Batman franchise? There's not much left to be said that hasn't already. They are awesome.

As a former comic shop employee I couldn't be happier about the Marvel movies, which actually now are being done WELL.

As long as the story is well written, they could use these franchises untill the end of time and they will likely be successful.

If they screw up Watchmen, I'll be on your side Kaz, but for the time being, I don't have much of a problem with all of the movies because most are well made.

Agreed.

I am with you guys on Watchmen, totally. But the Owl ship looks really awesome, we got to see it at Comic Con.

I'll give you that, and the trailer was amazing, but the fact that they have 300's director working on it and that Moore has literally removed his name from it makes me worry.

EDIT: And, according to Wikipedia, they're cutting out Tales of the Black Freighter (the comic that the kid by the newsstand was always reading) which is beyond phail. >___>

Aren't they gunna release the dvd based on Tales of the Black Freighter when The Watchmen comes out in theaters?
Yes but it is animated and isn't included in the movie which is huge. Tales of the Black Freighter was intermixed with events in the regular storyline, and it always complimented them perfectly. Taking it out is butchering the movie.

I guess they prolly are overdoing stuff....but I like it cuz they keep bringing back stuff I loved as a kid. Like when Transformers came out...that was just awesome.

and I think making comic book characters into movies..like Hellboy and stuff, was a cool idea.

Okay, they have now gone too far. They are slowly but surely butchering the hell out of Watchmen. They just announced that they're changing the ending to "update it for a more "mainstream" audience" to something that makes no sense in the context of the actual story.

They're making Ozymandias launch a nuclear bomb, instead of that weird creature. The problem is that a nuclear bomb won't accomplish Ozymandias' goal of world unity and an end to the arms race. They are going to have to change Ozymandias' purpose, his plan, and his entire character in order to fit this ending.

Snyder promised us that he would stay true to the source material, and look what has happened. Tales of the Black Freighter was cut from the movie because Warner Bros. wanted to cut corners and take the cheap route, they're changing the ending to something that makes absolutely no sense so that it's more "mainstream", they're making a video game based off of it, and they're talking about a freaking sequel. I am beyond disgusted with Snyder, Warner Bros., DC, and Hollywood as a whole.

Sorry for the semi-rant, but I just can't stand the fact that they are doing this to such a great comic.
