Doom 4

Jack

You sir, are a fool.
Wow, a game that I actually am looking forward too. Although it may be in production for a long time, this game will kick some serious "butt" (stupid filters). The following is small excerpt I found on Gamersrag:

Id Software, makers of the Doom series, has been hard at work creating the next installment of the franchise.

“We’re just going to give players a freaking gun,” said Id co-founder John Carmack. “We figure that trying to outdo Doom 3 in terms of graphics would be just too much work. So, we decided to just give out real guns and call it Doom 4."

“The graphics of real life are so much better than anything computers can put out. Take that, Crysis,” said Alex Sanchez, a beta tester for the game. “They just gave me an AK-47 and told me to find and shoot zombies. I think I got a few, but they might have been housecats.”

Carmack is confident that Doom 4 will generate tremendous sales, “We’re now putting the final touches on the product. We just need to secure a shipment of rifles from the Liberian army, and it’s game of the year, baby!”

Doom is the best shooter out there, no question about it.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Doom 1 and 2, but 3 was just not anywhere near as good as the other games. It was still good, but it didn't live up to the franchise. Because of Doom 3, I'm not sure that this game will be all that great. I just hope id can do what they did with Doom 1 and 2. 8)

I understand where you're coming from. I love the original Dooms better than Doom 3 as well. But I think that if id would incorporate some/and/or most of the original story line and enviroments, it will be much more successful and fun. Boy I'd kill somebody to get to play a re-vamped version of the original Ultimate Doom episodes.

Doom 3 was great, but it didn't feel like Doom 1 and 2. Doom 3 was more run around small hallways with only a flashlight and a gun. Doom 1 and 2 were the much more satisfying run around huge areas killing loads of demons.

Yeah and for some reason, well into the future, they still don't have that insane technology called tape! :D

Doom 3 was fun and all , but for some reason , whenever the game tried to scare me , i already knew what was going to happen . Kinda ruined it for me .

I like the first two dooms just because they were fast action games , not because they were "scary"

You know.. until it was just mentioned. Doom 1 and 2 were (in their own way) better than Doom 3. Whoa!!!!! I don't think that was supposed to happen. Anway, perhaps Doom 4 will take new steps and make for an even better game than the three combined. Or perhaps it will end up being a complete failure in itself.
"Think wisely, people at ID software. Or we'll riducule for your mistakes!"

Having said that. I am looking forward to Doom 4's release!!!! MUST.... SHOOT......... DEMONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ::D

They would get ridiculed if this game flops. Doom has to be an awesome game because it's no longer the standard from which all horror games are judged.

*realized it's originally a month before April Fools*

Sounds more like an early April Fools joke if you ask me. :lol

The Liberian army :lol

Dude, you will not believe this. My school AV Club is putting together a Doom 2 tournament! I am so paying $5 to get in. Winner gets the pot which is supposed to be $100. I'm gonna show these guys how Doom's played.

:lol I had no idea people still played Doom 2. Great game, but I haven't played it for a while. I'm so happy someone out there is playing something that isn't called Gears of War.

Well some of us have to have somewhat of a good taste in shooters cherry. Otherwise everbody would be playing Gears of War. Doom beats Gears and Doom was made in the 80's, so that makes Gears look pretty sour in my opinion.

I actually don't hate Gears. Its a good game and it controls like nothing I've ever played. The problem is its REALLY repetitive and it ends in like, 6 hours, but I guess that's a good thing considering how bored I was by the end of the game. DOOM RULES!!! Oh, and was it made in the 80's? I always thought it was like 94' or something. Well I guess I wouldn't really know considering I was two in 1994. :lol

Lol, yeah. It was made in the 80's for the DOS system. They made Doom 2 in the early 90's though.

Or, they started making Doom in 1992. Stop spreading lies...

Doom is okay, Doom 2 is so much better.

Amen. I knew they released Doom in 94'. Even if you didn't love the original Doom, you have to admit that Doom 2 pwned.

Blah, so I got my dates mixed up. Nobody's perfect. >:(
But yeah, Doom 2 was better, not by a whole lot though. I can run through Ultimate Doom in like 25 mins.

exactly :D

That's why I wasn't too keen on Doom 3. I didn't mind it... cool game... I just hope 4 is like Doom 1 & 2.

In the same way... I wish Quake 4 was more like Quake 1 and /or 2.

I liked the Doom 3 "alone in the dark" mechanic but missed the open spaces. The Serious Sam games are more like Doom 1 & 2 in that respect, wide open spaces with wave after wave of enemies. Doom 3 feels claustrophobic, kinda like Quake 1 & 2. I think they're gonna have to pull out all the stops for Doom 4 or the franchise is dead.
