By the time it comes out, I will be more than ready. I can haz addikshun.

Re: Dragon Age 2 Thread (March 8th in the USA and March 11th in Europe)

Key Features

(1)You play as the human character 'Hawke' who may be male or female.
(2)The game takes place across a decade and shapes itself around decisions made.
New combat mechanics designed to put the player in the heart of battle whether they are a mage, rogue, or warrior.
A new cinematic experience.
Updated graphics and a new visual style.
There will be opportunities for romance.
Races
Dragon Age 2 will feature a greater difference between races, meaning elves, dwarves and qunari are being reviewed and redesigned.
Save transfer
(3)Dragon Age 2 allows the player to import saves from any completed Dragon Age: Origins playthrough. So, while you may be controlling a different character in Dragon Age 2, the choices your Grey Warden made in Origins are still imported from your save and reflected in the world. Choices from Awakening will also be imported.
Dialogue
The dialogue system of Dragon Age: Origins will be replaced with a dialogue wheel, similar to BioWare's earlier title Mass Effect. Unlike Mass Effect however, when you move your cursor over a selection, an icon is shown in the center of the wheel that indicates the intent of the player line: Flirty, violent, sarcastic, etc. The dialogue wheel will have up to six dialogue options for players to choose from.
Additionally, the player character (4)Hawke will be fully voiced.
Approval and Gifts
Dragon Age 2 will still use an approval system. However, instead of only getting content and combat bonuses based on positive approval, you can either build a friendly or antagonistic relationship with your companions. Also, specific actions can still cause companions to turn on you, in spite of their approval rating.
There are fewer gifts in Dragon Age 2, and the gifts are specific to each companion. Gifts will also prompt specific dialogues.
Known Characters
Hawke: The protagonist.
Bethany: Hawke's sister and a mage.
Varric: A dwarf who acts as a narrator.
Cassandra: A Chantry Seeker that is interested in Hawke. She believes that understanding Hawke's actions could be the key to preventing a war that threatens to engulf Thedas.
(5)Flemeth: The notorious Witch of the Wilds.
1), I was somewhat disappointed that I wouldn't get to customize my character. But maybe you just don't get to change his/her name? But I'll be happy even if Hawke isn't customizable, his male version looks amazing and I'll bet the female version looks nice too.
2) You play through a decade of events. Does this mean we'll see Hawke and his companions age? And just how long will this game be? O_o If we make bad choices, will we see our surroundings suffer, the economy, etc.? I would appear so. Could be quite interesting.
3) The decisions you make in DA:O and DA:Awakening will affect gameplay and/or story in Dragon Age 2. Could prove very neat, if they can pull it off.
4) A fully voiced main character. Thrav likes. :D
5) I haven't finished Dragon Age Origins yet, but
I killed Flemeth... Does this mean she comes back for Morrigan?
I sure hope not D:

Re: Dragon Age 2 Thread (March 8th in the USA and March 11th in Europe)

I'm 98% you can customize your character. Sadly, I can't make a good looking guy in Dragon Age and the default character for male Shepard in Mass Effect looks best. FEMALES. I made a GORGEOUS female Shepard on my second playthrough. GORGEOUS. So good looking, I accidently kept staring at her and suddenly, she blew up in the middle of battle. Worth it.

Re: Dragon Age 2 Thread (March 8th in the USA and March 11th in Europe)

I keep watching the Dragon Age 2 trailer. I mean, it's on loop for about an hour or two. Is something wrong with me? :lol

Hawke as a female. I'm really starting to think Hawke won't be customizable...

Re: Dragon Age 2 Thread (March 8th in the USA and March 11th in Europe)

I have yet to play ME, even though I own it. :\

Re: Dragon Age 2 Thread (March 8th in the USA and March 11th in Europe)

Hawke is customizable. Shepard was in ME, so will Hawke in DA2.

Re: Dragon Age 2 Thread (March 8th in the USA and March 11th in Europe)

So the images they are releasing are only the default characters?

Omg the trailer was epic.

Would assume so.

Re: Dragon Age 2 Thread (March 8th in the USA and March 11th in Europe)

So, how is it? I got it downloaded, but I think I want to finish up my Amell romance storyline with Morrigan first. I do also want to try it with my Dalish Elf.

Re: Dragon Age 2 Thread (Your pre-order upgraded for you)

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/14/dragon-age-2-pre-orders-upgraded-to-bioware-signature-edition/

BioWare has conjured up a new incentive to pre-order next year's talkin' Tolkien-esque epic, Dragon Age 2. Pre-orders for the game will be automatically upgraded to the "BioWare Signature Edition," which comes packed with a download code for an extra playable character (and accompanying missions), a downloadable soundtrack, an in-game armory with bonus weapons and "additional downloadable items." In total, BioWare values it as a $20 bonus that you could get for no extra charge.

This special edition of Dragon Age 2 (for Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3) will be available via pre-order from Gamestop, Amazon, Electronics Boutique and the online EA store, with more stores to be announced later. You'll also be able to find it in several European territories, as well as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

There's just one catch: Your pre-order will only transform into BioWare Signature Edition if it's placed before January 11, 2011. If you miss the deadline, you'll have to pick up a regular copy of Dragon Age 2 on March 8. Maybe you could take it to a convention and have someone from BioWare autograph it for you.
