Ergo Proxy

Hell Scyth

Rock Hard, Dead or Alive
--- old message - now discussion to do with Ergo proxy ---
Okay, so this is an Anime I watched AGES back when it was still on SBS, however, the title escapes me, and I'm starting to get into a faze where I'm buying less games, and focusing more on my Anime collection.

Since I have no idea of the title, I'll make what ever descriptions I can make to assit in any who may recall the title for me. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The Anime itself is a rather dark styled Anime, based in a apocalyptic style future, with civilisation rendered down to small colonies, with man operating along with robots to maintain the society.
Some people have a robot who works directly with them at all times, and they are referred to as a "Entourage". One of the main characters, a male with short dark hair and a grim past, has a Entourage, but his Entourage is affected by a disease that causes the robots to lose control. However, his does not. If I recall right, his Entourage is named 'Pino', or something close, and resembles a 6-8 year old girl with long blue hair and big blue eyes. They travel the world in a air-ship. A rather run down one too.
Another main character is a woman, long dark hair and a pretty face. Wears green eye shadow, I think. Her Entourage is a bit taller than her, looks a bit old, and has a brown colour I think I recall.
Another recollection is that the main male character has a secondary persona, a powerful being with a rather sinister looking mask/face and long hair that covers half of it, i think... hough I may have confused that fact with another Anime.
The series goes on for quite a while, but mankind is fighting against the robots that have turned against them, if I'm still on the right track and not thinking of something else here. Towards the end, the main male character ends up going back to the city where the female character is from, and he ends up meeting with this weird council group, who you never really see, because when they are speaking, the camera view is of some statues. (again, I may have made some confusion with something else, but my memory banks recall an event like this towards the end, along with some city going boom not long before it).

That's all I can really describe, aside from three other eps.

One, where the main Char seems to be in a prison/garrison place and fights another super being like himself.

Another, where the female Char is in a deserted city with her Entourage, and though it is void of human life, the machines there still go about their daily routine as if there were still people to look after.

Another, towards the end as well, is when both Char's are in the ship going through a mountain I think, or something like it, and they find out the woman Entourage is infected, and goes nuts, trying to kill the man so he can have the woman all to himself. He's rather fond of her. I think she was a governors daughter or something. Anyway, her Entourage gets shot down, then self detonates, I recall.

Sorry, but that's basically all I can think. Thank again in advance for any help in finding this Anime. I've about given up. :-\

Re: Drivin' me nuts! Assitance requested, please.

The only series like that I have ever heard of with robots called Entourage is Ergo Proxy. They released a box set for it back in October.

YEAH!! THAT'S IT!!! Thanks Zi and Redneckgamer!!! The title escaped me and every time i tried to recall I could only think of other Anime's, but as soon as I read that title it hit me like a sack of doorknobs!!! Thanks. The torment of not knowing this title has ceased. :D

It's a very good Anime indeed. It has a very well scripted story line with a wonderful setting to fit it along with the characters. It's certainly one of those Anime's that gets you craving for another peice, and you wont be satisfied until you've had the whole deal, so don't bother starting to watch it if you think you're going to miss out on too much! I missed a bunch of eps. unfortunately, but the story line is easy to pick up on, so long as you haven't missed too many. You'll be sure to catch up in time. If you like a dark styled Anime, this is certainly something you should get your hands on, at least for a preview!

I ended up seeing the first 4 episodes. Definitely interesting. The opening song is great. Love it.

I found a DVD for the series when at the shops not a few weeks back... but it was DVD 5 or something... I'd like to have the first 4 first. :lol

Yeah have noticed recently something kind of wierd like that at my local Fye they had new copies of dsic 3 or 4 or somewhere around there of Gun Sword and Tri-gun which when think about how long those series have been out does seem really strange.

Doesn't really matter how long a seriers has been out, you can still sometimes find it.

For example, down at one of the stores I go to to check in on Anime, they still have the original Robotech Genesis COLLECTORS edition sitting there... I just wish it wasn't the 2nd set and was the 1st so I could get it. That Anime started my Anime addiction!

I know Hell Scyth it just doesn't make alot of sense why they do it seems if your going to stock classic anime you would want to have the begining discs on in stock at your actual stores not the middle or end. But on the other hand I'm sure selling the classics serve Fye well afterall they carry alot movies and complete series classics too.

But not always.

I guess they get the stock, and move in as the next set comes in rather than stocking up on the previous set in case there are those who want it.

I understand why they do it like that, it's because they nee space for new stock... at least with most places you can go up and order in what they don't have... I should do that next time I'm down there. I mean, they've got almost all Ergo DVD's there, I should just order in the first and I'll be able to start gettin tte rest.

Yeah your probably right about that. I have found some pretty old series especialy at Fye there used title are real gold mine both for finding discontinued stuff, as well some old stuff it's very reasonable priced. :)

Well Hell Scythe I think I know why they have Tri-gun in every Fye store the manufacture discounted production and it's probably more effective why to liqiudate the inventory they have left.
