well... how are you going to get those people to post in other areas?

I mean... imo members should start taking it upon themselves to try to help make new conversations instead of waiting for others to do so. I am not accusing anyone of anything, but when people say "I don't post because there is nothing to talk about" or "because there are no new posts"... why not create some?

I 70% agree that F&G shouldn't count. This measure still doesn't help with getting more posts to gaming specific areas. If you want more members and more activity... activity has to be created. It's sort of a catch 22. You have to have activity to get activity... or at least attempt to use what you have to make as much activity as you can. Same goes for money a lot of times :lol

Better yet... I think we lock the retarded counting posts. But other F&G things like the "post a caption topic" should count. Not everything there is worthless... just most of it :)

Well, the thing is that just because post counts wouldn't count there, it doesn't mean people wouldn't post in F&G. I'm sure people will still post there regardless. And if we do lose people because their post count doesn't get higher from posting in the F&G forum, maybe they weren't worth having to begin with.

Spartan said it before but it's certainly still true: You are NOT your post count.

If the only reason people post in the F&G forum is for post count, that's still missing the point of it being a forum for Fun & Games, IMO. People should be posting because they enjoy it, not just because they want to inflate a number that really doesn't matter anyway.

I vote no...cause you'll see 500 posts attributed to someone's post count just because they're going back and forth with one or two other people in a single topic...for pages among pages among pages.

Sorry, but I added "undecided" in there because I am, well, undecided. Yes, the general belief is that posts don't count much. Come in, hang out, post up, and that's that. But the flipside is that guests come in and see the post counts. To them it's a good indication that we have long established members.

I do agree that the F&G section can be a complete waste. It's very easy to drop 50 posts in a single session that doesn't amount to much. But it's a part of the site. If we leave the post count active, or we don't, it won't matter much to me at all...

But if a guest comes into a gaming forum, I'm sure they'd rather see posts on a game they like rather than who can count the highest.
