Favorite Era of Gaming

I am so smrt
I'm not sure if this has been asked before, I'm to lazy to search and see if it has. If it has been asked before please feel free to yell at me.

What do you consider to be the golden era of gaming?

I've gotta go with the 16 bit era.

PSX was a great era for me since it was the first era that I knew what was what and the games were just amazing.

psx/64/dreamcast for me but yeah i agree.

this era is not so bad either

The good ol' N64 days. My second favorite would be current day. The extra power that the PS3 and Xbox 360 offer give developers the chance to be more creative than ever before. This leads to masterpieces such as Bioshock, and LittleBigPlanet.

I'm totally and completely biased, because this was the generation I entered gaming, but N64/PSX generation. I think this generation is actualyl giving it a run for its money though. There are just so many new possibilities, with improving technology, and we're beginning to see them realized. It's an exciting time.

This may not have been too long ago, but I say it was the PS2/Xbox/GC era. This is where a lot of series matured to the great games they are now and gave birth to great new ones.

For Example:

GTA III
Silent Hill 2-4
Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3
Halo 1 & 2
Smash Bros. Melee
Resident Evil 4
Guitar Hero 1 & 2
Kingdom Hearts

Just to name a few.

I agree with Creepin, definitely the PS2/Xbox/GC era...finest games I've seen. My 2nd personal favorite, would have to be the 16-bit era. Yet the previous era we just had spawned off games such as these as well:

Fable
Halo
Devil May Cry
God of War
Ratchet & Clank
Jak & Daxter
Sly Cooper
Onimusha
Soul Calibur 2
Ninja Gaiden Xbox
Jade Empire

But I also enjoyed the N64 era.

I would have to go with between 16 bit and 8 bit. That is were my gamer's heart stays. I still play more of those games than any other. :)

All I can really say is:

The first game I played on the Master System was Rambo. Love it. My first game on the NES was Super Mario Bros. Love it. I'm stuck in the 80s...

I don't know...I had a lot of fun on the N64. With the original Smash Bros., Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, Perfect Dark, and Goldeneye, how could you go wrong? :p Plus throw in a few others to keep you busy for a while like Mario Kart, Jet Force Gemini, Duke Nukem, Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire, and even a couple football games I picked up. I would probably have to go with the N64 Era.

The GC/Xbox era makes a good case though. Mario Sunshine was alright, but to me, Super Smash Bros Melee and Phantasy Star Online were the highlights of that era. I love those two games to death, and actually, those are the only three games I have left for that system. And then you add in the Xbox games like Halo and Halo 2 and a couple other football games I got, and that era turned out pretty good for me.

I'm still gonna have to go with the N64 though. :)

This is tough. I really loved the N64, but Xbox/PS2/GC was also a very good time. I think I'm gonna have to go with N64 though. Original Smash bros, NFL Blitz, Goldeneye, Donkey Kong, Star fox. Those days were great.

Well, the N64 is my fave, so that is my fave era. Nothing at all can compare to that to me. It is like magic to me.
