I built my current PC in late 2006 and it is showing its age now:

AMD X2 5000+ OC
Asus Crosshair MOBO
XFX Geforce 8800GTX XxX - Man that card was the **** back in the day! :-)
4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 RAM
Audigy 2ZS Soundcard
2 x 1TB Western Digital
Thermaltake Toguhpower 700w PSU
Thermaltake Water Cooling
Thermaltake Case

I have had many a good time with it over the years but as soon as the AMD HD6990 is out I'm basing a new gaming PC around that and a Phenom CPU. Not exactly sure what yet, though. :?

UPDATE:

OK, so I upgraded as I could not be bothered to wait for the 6990, and now have this.

Asus M4A89GTD Mobo
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T OC @ 3.6Ghz
8GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600mhz)
Asus HD6970 2GB OC, 5500MHz GDDR5, GPU OC @ 890MHz
WD VelociRaptor 160GB (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit)
WD 1TB (Games) WD 2TB External (Other) 500GB Iomega ScreenPlay (vidz)
26" Iiyama LCD Monitor

Has so far managed to take everything that has been thrown at it. Always maxed out settings @ 1920 x 1200 with GTAIV/Crysis/Just Cause2/AvP/Dead Space 2.

Gonna CrossFire it in the next couple of months. Can't find a good reason to do it for now. Would just be pointless excess.

Hopefully, this rig will last me a good few years :)

im not good with computer specifics btu i do have an Acer 23" full HD 1080p Wide screen monitor i got for Christmas and i am loving it :)

Finally bought a darn copy of Windows for my PC. Linux is decent and all, but I just can't live without Windows unfortunately. And yes, I bought XP and I am still rockin a DDR2 setup, but at least my mobo supports AM3 CPU's, so I am gonna get this sucker next paycheck http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103846 and then some new RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134066

Or maybe I should just stick with the RAM I got {a single 2GB DDR2-800 G-Skill stick} and save my money towards a AMD DDR3 board? You think they are even worth it?

I finally broke down and decided to upgrade my graphics card from an XFX 8800GT to an EVGA GTX 460.

March302011010.jpg

I decided to move my Velociraptor 300 hard drive to the open 5.25" bay using a Scythe bay rafter and got some black, round SATA cables to replace the original shorter SATA cables.

Unfortunately, because the GTX460 has a dual slot cooler, I had to remove my X-fi Titanium sound card and drop (in PCI slot and in quality) an X-fi Xtremegamer sound card in its place.

And I leave this upgrade with a glowy night shot. My next move will be to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit.

Just got some parts for a major upgrade.

It's all going in a Lian Li PC-7FNWX with Corsair 720HX. Then I'm going to transfer all the parts from the old case save for the MOBO, CPU, and PSU. If anyone's interested in a Core i7 860, MSI P55 MOBO, Corsair 550HX, and a ThermalTake VA8000 case, let me know. Now I just need to finish sleeving the new PSU with this.

Got a new computer last night! Finished setting it up and I can finally use it. (Yay!)
It runs things amazingly well. I can run Far Cry 2 on all max settings now. (Excluding resolution which I don't care about)
I can also play Bad Company 2 now. (On max) So if anyone wants to add me as a friend, my name is CaptainIcy.

It was a bad, bad, steal. I almost feel bad for buying it so cheap. :P
$300 for all of this: (The people obviously had no idea what they had, as I'd estimate this whole setup at close to $1000 dollars in actual value nowadays)

Dell XPS 630i with…

Windows Vista Home Premium (32-Bit)
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
4.00 GB RAM
688 GB HDD
Dual ATI Radeon 4850 Crossfire-Enabled graphics cards

And some things I didn't know I'd get…

Logitech S00003 Surround Sound Speaker System
Microsoft Wireless Keyboard
Microsoft Wireless 5-Button Mouse
19" Dell monitor (I'm still using my Samsung 19" Widescreen monitor, though)

Current build:

Dell Vostro 200 mini tower case
Foxconn mATX socket 775 G31 motherboard
Rosewill 630 watt E-80 rated power supply

Core 2 Duo e7200 at 3.16 Ghz
Zalman 8700NT CPU cooler

3 GB PNY XLR8 DDR2 800 RAM

Optiarc 16x DVD/RW drive
WD Velociraptor 300 hard drive (OS and games)
Hitachi Deskstar 250 GB drive (storage)

EVGA GTX460 768 MB graphics card
----------------------------------

I think this computer build is finished with ugprades. Maybe I'll be able to afford a new build if/when I can ever find a more lucrative job.

Huge downgrade... playing on a 2003 home PC that cost about $500 8 years ago... I dont even want to know what the full specs are, but you can imagine. :'(

I just got a Pentium III build returned from loaning it to a family member. I'm tempted to throw Windows 98 on it so I can play the early Quake expansions, Descent, and other Win98 games...

You know i never posted the specs of my old pc before my grandma broke it. Its kinda old and i only replaced a few parts on it.

480 Watt power supply(not sure on brand)
Dual Core intel CPU's running at 1.89 GHz
ATI Radeon HD 4 Series (not sure on Specifics)
1 GB of DDR2 Ram
everything is stock dell dimension E1500...i think it was... something like that.

I also used a track ball mouse instead of those annoying regular ones. and i had a sweet gaming Keyboard that is now in a dump somewhere...*sigh*

I thought I posted my current rig here but I guess not. I guess now is a good time since I have a second Radeon HD 6850 coming my way.

Core i5 2500K
2 Radeon HD 6850 (running in CrossfireX)
ASUS P67 Motherboard

I don't remember the type of RAM. Once I open up my system I'll check it out.

I STILL have not upgraded my OS. It'll have to wait 'til I find a better job. It's a pity though, since my GTX460 can handle DX11.

Won a gtx 560ti in a sweepstakes a couple months ago, along with a Nvidia 3d vision kit. It was a nice little upgrade from my 460 and its pretty fun messing around with 3D.

So my computer changed completely.

Dell XPS 420
3.0 Ghz Dual Core processor
3 gigs of ram
ATI radeon HD 6570
Windows 7 Enterprise

Thats all I know.

EDIT: today i got a new graphics card

My computer is a huge improvement over whatever I had posted in this thread before.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 215 Processor
4GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GT 520

Very noob question but, what is the difference really?
Without getting very technical... I would a correct way to lightly explain it would be:
64 bit is different in how it handles information and the memory used in the computer with the information. 64Bit can handle, recognize, and use a lot more memory (plus more efficiently) than 32-bit.

4GB is the theoretical limit of a 32bit OS. This comprises ALL memory used in the system. IE if you have 4GB of ram and a 1GB graphics card... 1GB drops out somewhere... it is not used. only 4GB total can be used.

64bit takes different drivers... so sometimes programs and devices that worked in 32Bit doesn't work in 64Bit
