Not Unreal Tournament... but the original Unreal published by GT Interacted. GT Interactive also published Doom2 and MANY MANY other very popular games.

Who else remembers Unreal?

Post up your memories and what made this a great game!

If you were around this weekend, you would have noticed that along with an Unreal Tournament 3 free weekend on Steam, Unreal is packaged in a $16 deal. :P

Of course, you know that now... FINALLY!

Wait, isn't Unreal GOLD like the final cut of the original game??

^ this

Just like Unreal Tournament III Black is Unreal Tournament III but with the Titan expansion on it.

I still have it. It's been a long time since I played it. It was the first game I bought when I built my first computer. I still remember that it was a competition between me and my friends to see who's computer could play the intro as smoothly as possible.

I remember buying Unreal Gold in a bundle pack with Rune: Halls of Valhalla in a Kmart somewhere when I was out shopping with my mom as a young lad. Never heard anything about the games before, but they looked interesting and I decided it was worth the $10 or whatever I paid. Installed Rune first, fall madly in love with it, and became one of the best players online at the time. I dominated at that game for whatever reason, but never had the money for the multiplayer-only version so I was never able to play some of the cooler maps.

I installed Unreal later, and was freaked out at parts of it. One of the few things ever to freak me out. The odd noises you hear and creepy visuals in the ship started it, and then the massive scale of the outside world just amazed me. Prior to that time, I don't recall any game having such a huge, open environment. Birds flying, huts, a giant waterfall, a river down in the canyon. Ahh, great memories. Definitely played Rune a lot more though, one of my favorite games.
