Games with character creation

I love creating my own character in a game. Can you recommend some good games for PC, that also include a good char.creation system, including editing the appearance, stats, etc. Thanks!

Welcome to the boards :) we are glad to have you here and hope you enjoy your stay.

well.... creation as in how?

There are many character stat creation games, but I don't think many that you can actually change your appearance.

IE in Tony hawk Pro Skater, you can change / create a character for stats and appearances.
in Diablo 2, you can change your characters stats and equipment.  There are many more examples as well...

but I guess it would be good to know what kind of games you are looking for (RPG style... or what style did you have in mind?)

Roleplaying would a great start, although obvious. I recommend Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate (don't let the bad looks turn you off) and Morrowind.

As for other games, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 is quite great. I know it's just golf, but it is still quite fun. Tony Hawk's are also recommended, but I haven't tried them on PC. I love the PS2 versions, though. T.H.U.G.2 are far too easy, but other than that they are quite great.

Many sport games like NBA, NFL and that allow you to at least customize new characters, and the Street versions are even better and more enjoyable. Not sure if they are on PC, though.

Need for Speed: Underground 2 let you customize your car quite a bit, and is worth a check. On the other hand, I suggest you go with Midnight Club 3 instead. It's far better. Neither have characters (although you can select driver and outfit when using bikes in MC3), but they are still fun.

Thank you for answering. Bluevoodu: Yes, you understood my meaning correctly. I meant games where you "make your character" instead of playing with a character the production team has invented (for example, Max Payne; the name/appearance/etc. is already made, you just play the game with that only possible character).
Please, if you can come up with other games, let me know. I've played already many sports games (inclunding NHL-series) and also Tony Hawk-games (they have great character-creation-possibilities!)

As for genre, I like pretty much everything (except simulation and strategies). RPG's, action, adventure: all that works for me.
As for RPG though, I prefer the ones that don't have 1st person look. I think it suites FPS's more.
